Why eating pork is forbidden for you?

why exactly is pork meat forbidden for muslims? it could have been beef, veal or lamb meat, but why specifically pork? whats the reasoning?

Only Allah knows, although it may have to do with the fact that pigs are genetically quite similar to humans. Also, people really shouldn't be eating pig to begin with. Westerners get all freaked out when they hear about Chinese people eating dog, but in all reality, pigs are just as intelligent and friendly as dogs are. Genetically they're practically the same, but nobody seems to get freaked out about pigs getting slaughtered.

Personally though, I don't care how intelligent an animal is--I'll eat it. I think it's ridiculous that my government forbids us from eating whale and dolphin. I don't want to have to travel to Japan for it! That cost a lot of money! I just want my whale! I'd also like to try monkey brains--I think you can get monkey brains in Mexico, although it might not be the safest thing to eat in Mexico.

in arabic pig is 'khanzeer' and it is mentioned in the Quran a couple of times. if it is not aloud to say it then why is it mention in the Quran ?
