Default Looking for Huffaz wanting an Ijazah (sanad) in Hafs

    asalam alaikum,

I completed my Ijazah in Hafs in the recitation of the Qur'an from memory this January from my Azhari Shaykh in Egypt. I want to review my Qur'an this Ramadan and was wondering if there are any huffaz our there who would like to get an ijazah (definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ijazah) that links them back to the Prophet (saw). That way me and this other hafiz can both benefit inshAllah.

If you're not hafiz yourself but know one, please point them in my direction!

I'm based in Saudi until the end of September at which point I'll be returning to the UK for University. But location doesn't matter so much as I was thinking along the lines of online skype-based sessions.

I could but it would involve me writing out about 30-50 names most of whom you will not know. But I can tell you there are a number of famous sahaba in the chain such as Abdullah bin Masud then the chain goes to Hafs and Aasim and then after that the next big name is al-jizriy who wrote the world famous manual on tajweed called al-jizriyyah which you will have undoubtedly heard of if you've studied tajweed. My Shaykh in Egypt told me that the chain is the strongest one in existence for Hafs an Aasim. If you really want to see the ijazah PM me, but it won't be much use if you don't understand Arabic.

oh and its better to say "JazakAllah khayr" as simply "jazakAllah" means "may Allah recompense you"...but doesn't say should he recompense you good or evil!

    As salaam alaikum wa rahmatullah,

The shorter the chain, the stronger the Sanad. A short chain will normally consist of about 27-29 names between your teacher and Rasulullah (sallallahu 'alahi wa sallam).

You mentioned 30-50 which is grossly inconsistent with a strong chain. Have you actually read and acknowledged all the individuals on your sanad?
