    Question Question on menstruation

    Assalamu alaykum

I read in "Rules concerning haidh(8)_ Bahesthi Zewar"

It says : If she sped bleeding after one or two days, it is not wajib on her to have a bath. She can make wudhu and offer her salaat but intercourse is not permissible. If she starts to bleed again before fifteen days, it will now be established that those days were the days of haidh. According to calculation, whichever days were of haidh should be regarded as haidh. Now she will have to have a bath and offer her salaat. However, if fifteen days pass and she did not bleed, it will now be established that those one or two days were of istihaada. Since she did not read her salaat for that one or two days on account of bleeding, she will now have to make qada of those missed salaats.

NOW, If fifteen days are passed and she did not bleed, and she has completed the missed salaah of one or two days.

after completing those missed salaah she did not bleed for four days, And again she bled for one day and then sped bleeding, Does she has to wait for fifteen days again ? or what is the ruling now ? Please reply referring Ahnaaf books.

A quick reply will be appreciated....

    jazakallah

    Wassalam

    wa'alaykumus salaam,

according to the rules of Haidh (hanafi), if after the first bleeding of LESS THAN 3 days, there were 15 clear days and then once again there was bleeding of LESS THAN 3 days (as you say in your post) then the same will apply.

You must wait and see if bleeding reoccurs within 15 days. If again there is no bleeding within 15 days then those 1 or 2 days worth of salaat will have to be made up and if bleeding does occur within 15 days then days of haidh will be as your usual habit...and Allah knows best

And if someone can please answer my question...

Where in the Quran does it mention that women can't perform Salaat during their menstration cycle?

These are basic rules of haidh, can be found in Bahishti Zewar and any ahnaf fiqh book...if you note the paragraph you quoted from Bahishti Zewar, it is itself explaining this. The 15 day tuhr separates the bleedings and so the same ruling will apply when it happens again.

A very good reference book is "Birgivi's Manual Interpreted" by hedaya hartford/ashraf muneeb and if you know urdu, another book is "hadiya-e-khawaateen"

    assalaamu'alaykum sister,
The beauty of taqleed is we do not need to worry about asking for proof for every ruling...The concept of taqleed to a madhab means i accept and trust that the rulings are derived from the Qur'an and Sunnah

Out of curiosity, may i ask if (according to your knowledge), in the Qur'an is it actually mentioned that we CAN perform salaat during menstruation?

    Assalamualaikum..

From what I gather Baheshti Zewar is the complete reference book for women following Hanafi madhab. I just wondering whether there is the same book for women following Shafi'i madhab? And in English version pls..

Bahishti Zewar is a big book. in shafi' fiqh you could start with the smaller books like Safinatun Najaa, then you have Al Maqasid, & then Reliance of the traveler which is big. I recomend a teacher when it comes to mentruation but hen again you cant expect me to understand these issues-I dont think my teacher even wasnt too clued up. one thing about knowledge is the practical & you will never know untill you actual do-so for us males-we not gonna know much. you could get Safinah on Pdf.

Yes, i agree, a teacher is absolutely necessary when to comes to laws concerning menstruation/nifas...in my experience only a good mufti is good enough. Apparantly 'Aalima courses do not cover the subject in depth. Unfortunately only the basics are covered so most 'Aalimas are not qualified to go into these rulings in depth

ps..very good course run by sunnipath
