AOA,

AOA,
I am wondering why sehri times in the UK is 2-3 hours before fajr time! Is this right? I remember last and previous years it was 5-10 mins before fajr when it closed how is it possible to go from 10 mins to 3 hours gap?
I have noticed the same.
I feel let down as I don't understand why this is the case.
To me its very obvious..
Allah has permitted the fasting person to eat and drink until dawn comes. Allah says :
“and eat and drink until the white thread (light) of dawn appears to you distinct from the black thread (darkness of night)”
[al-Baqarah 2:187]
al-Bukhaari (1919) and Muslim (1092) narrated from Ibn ‘Umar and ‘Aa’ishah that Bilaal used to give the adhaan at night. The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Eat and drink until Ibn Umm Maktoom gives the adhaan, for he does not give the adhaan until dawn comes.”
Al-Nawawi (may Allaah have mercy on him) said:
This shows that it is permissible to eat, drink etc until dawn comes.
That is enough clarification using Quran and Hadith that you can eat until you hear the Adhaan so why timetables state 2-3 hours or 10 minutes before i really fail to understand.
In fact when i go to Taraveeh prayer tomorrow Inshallah I will ask the mosque this very question.

Where are you from? I seen a few different timetables and most of them are 2-3 hours before fajr time they say the close isnt this a huge mess up or am I missing something?
are you brothers and sisters sure that the difference is 2-3 hours?
ok subh sadiq is fajr beggining time, you should stop eating and drinking just before this time starts, the 10 minute difference you see on some timetables between subh sadiq/fajr and imsaak is only for caution purposes.
yes some masjids subh sadiq/fajr starts at eg seven kings (ilford) time starts at 3:06am according to the timetable based on 18 degrees
the other local majid ilford (balfour road) starts at 3:49am which is based on the hizbul ulama timetable (which has many mistakes on it) even the imams of the masjid dont know why they follow this timetable but are worried what the commitee of the masjid will say! (but thats another story alltoghter)
إملاء الخير خير من السكوت والسكوت خير من إملاء الشر
"Speaking what is good is better than silence, and silence is better than speaking evil."

I think what we need is a propert understanding on how these timetables are constructed and what tools and references they use to make them is leaving everyone in the mist. Today I followed what Allah and his rasool said not what my local masjid told me.
