    The Prophet (saw): The Life of This World

    Narrated Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri:

    Allah's Apostle said, "The thing I am afraid of most for your sake, is the worldly blessings which Allah will bring forth to you." It was said, "What are the blessings of this world?" The Prophet said, "The pleasures of the world." A man said, "Can the good bring forth evil?" The Prophet kept quiet for a while till we thought that he was being inspired divinely. Then he started removing the sweat from his forehead and said," Where is the questioner?" That man said, "I (am present)." Abu Sa'id added: We thanked the man when the result (of his question) was such. The Prophet said:

    "Good never brings forth but good. This wealth (of the world) is (like) green and sweet (fruit), and all the vegetation which grows on the bank of a stream either kills or nearly kills the animal that eats too much of it, except the animal that eats the Khadira (a kind of vegetation). Such an animal eats till its stomach is full and then it faces the sun and starts ruminating and then it passes out dung and urine and goes to eat again. This worldly wealth is (like) sweet (fruit), and if a person earns it (the wealth) in a legal way and spends it properly, then it is an excellent helper, and whoever earns it in an illegal way, he will be like the one who eats but is never satisfied."

    A life marked by modesty in all situations

    Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was a model of modesty. Most certainly, he was the best person to have ever walked on earth, but he did not press his position in any way other than to emphasize that his task was merely to deliver God's message to mankind. He did not seek for himself any privilege or special treatment. On the contrary, he was keen to always appear among his companions as one of them who had no special privilege. A stranger who found him sitting with them would not know which of them was God's Messenger until he had been informed by them. In manners, appearance and behavior, the Prophet was not distinguishable from his companions, except in always choosing the better, easier and more beneficial option.

    Qudamah ibn Abdullah reports: "I saw the Prophet as he performed the duty of stoning the Jamrah (during his pilgrimage) on the day of sacrifice. He was riding a camel of normal color, which was neither too pretty nor bad looking." (Related by Ahmad, Al-Tirmidhi, Al-Nassaie and Ibn Majah.) This took place during the Prophet's pilgrimage, which was in the last year of his mission, when his authority as head of state was universally acknowledged throughout Arabia. At that time, rulers gave themselves magnificent appearance wherever they went. This has been a tradition everywhere. Today, when a ruler moves from one area to another in his own capital, he rides in a huge procession. In some countries, the streets along the route a ruler moves are blocked to all traffic until he has reached his destination. The Prophet chose a very ordinary camel and went among his people as one of them.

    This was his habit, because we read several descriptions of how he went about. Needless to say, in each description the Prophet's companion concerned speaks about what he saw. Thus, Usamah ibn Zayd says: "I saw the Prophet (SAW) riding a donkey with a saddle placed over an article of clothing made in Fadak. He got Usamah to ride behind him when he went to visit Saad ibn Ubadah who was ill in his home in Al-Harith ibn Al-Khazraj's quarters." (Related by Al-Bukhari, Muslim and Ahmad.) Usamah, who was riding behind the Prophet on this occasion, describes how the Prophet went far to visit one of his companions because he was ill. There is nothing remarkable about the Prophet's riding and appearance, other than its being very modest. It is the type of mount that was available to all at the time. Not only so, but he also took Usamah behind him.

    The Prophet was indeed most caring. If on this instance he visited one of the chiefs of the Ansar, he would visit anyone who was ill, as we can easily deduce from the following Hadith narrated by Anas: "A Jewish lad used to serve the Prophet. He fell ill and the Prophet went to visit him. He sat by the patient, near to his head. He then said to him: "Embrace Islam." The lad looked up to his father, who said to him: "Do as Abu Al-Qasim is telling you." The lad declared himself a Muslim. When the Prophet left him, he said: "All praise be to God who has saved this lad from the fire." (Related by Al-Bukhari, Ahmad and Abu Dawood.)

    We note how the Prophet went to visit a servant of his, a young chap who did not believe in his message. Nothing stopped him from showing his care for the lad. The boy and his family were highly appreciative of the fact, as they well knew that he was the master and ruler in Madinah. When the Prophet told him to embrace Islam, he only did so because he cared for the boy. He did not wish the lad to meet his Lord as a non-Muslim, having known about Islam. No doubt when the Prophet asked him to embrace Islam, he was only concerned for the lad and his position in the life to come. He wanted for him what is best and this could only be achieved through his embrace of the Islamic faith.

    The boy's father was also fully aware of the Prophet's feelings. Hence, he told his son to obey him. The boy had known the Prophet and his honesty, and he must have reported to his family on the Prophet's exemplary conduct at home and with his community. Hence, the father did not hesitate to order his son to follow the Prophet's guidance. When the boy declared himself a Muslim, the Prophet was delighted for his salvation.

    It is when things are difficult that a leader's character appears at its clearest. When the Prophet and his companions marched to intercept the trade caravan belonging to the Quraysh, hoping to take it in compensation for their property the Quraysh had confiscated when they immigrated to Madinah, they were very badly equipped. They were over 300 people, but they had only seventy odd camels and two horses. They realized that they might have to confront a much bigger force, as they eventually did when the Quraysh raised an army and the two sides fought the Battle of Badr. How did they manage to march with such little amount of equipment? Abdullah ibn Massoud reports: "When marching for the Battle of Badr, every three of us were assigned one camel.

    Abu Lubabah and Ali ibn Abi Talib shared one camel with the Prophet. When it was the Prophet's turn to walk, both of them said to him: "We will walk instead of you." The Prophet said to them: "Neither of you is stronger than me, nor am I less in need of God?s reward than you."

    (Related by Ahmad and others.)

    The Explanation of the Meanings of the
    Names of the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)

    Taken from 'Zaad al-Ma`aad' (1/88-97) of ibn al-Qayyim, rahimahullaah
    Bismillaahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem

    "PIVOTAL QUOTE"

    Muhammad: is a passive participle, whosoever is praised, possessing many praiseworthy qualities then he is Muhammad. And Muhammad (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) is praised more than any other person, and this is why - and Allaah knows best - he was called by this name in the Torah, due to the many praiseworthy qualities which he, his religion, and his nation possess such that even Moses wished that he would be from them.

    Know that the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) has been called by many names and titles in the Qur`aan and Sunnah, each one of them describing a special quality of this exalted personality. And in understanding them and reflecting upon them, we can, by the permission of Allaah, increase in our love and following of the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam). This discussion is taken from 'Zaad al-Ma`aad' (1/88-97) of ibn al-Qayyim, rahimahullaah, summarised.

    The names of the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) are of two types:

    Those names that are specific to him and none of the Messengers before him had these names, like Muhammad, Ahmad, al-Aaqib, al-Haashir, al-Muqaffee, Nabi al-Malhama.
    Those names and qualities that are not specific to him, and were shared by the Messengers before him, but are found in him in the most complete and perfect forms. Like: Messenger of Allaah, His Prophet, His Servant, Prophet of Mercy etc.
    What follows is an explanation of some of them.

    Ahmad: Derived, as is Muhammad, from the noun hamd (praise). A group of scholars said that it is a passive participle, meaning: his praising of Allaah is more than any other person's praise of him, and therefore he is the most deserving of being praised and the first. So in meaning Ahmad is similar to Muhammad except that the distinction is that he is Muhammad due to his possessing many praiseworthy qualities, and he is Ahmad due to his being praised in a more excellent way than the praise of any other. And this is the most complete meaning of this word, and the most extensive in commending him (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam).

    Also these two names stem from his character, and the praiseworthy qualities specific to him, and it is because of these that he is called Muhammad (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) and Ahmad. And he is the one who is praised by the People of the Heaven, the People of the earth, the People of the world and the People of the Hereafter.

    Al-Mutawakkil: (The One who puts his trust in Allaah). In the Saheeh of Bukhaaree from the hadeeth of Abdullaah bin Umru who said, "I read the description of the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) in the Torah: Muhammad is Messenger of Allaah, My servant and Messenger, I have called him al-Mutawakkil. He is neither rude nor harsh and he does not shout in the markets, and he does not return an evil for an evil, rather he overlooks and forgives. And I will not make him to die until I make firm the nation through him, causing them to say: there is none worthy of worship except Allaah." {1}

    He (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) is the most deserving of this name, because the trust he put in Allaah to establish the religion was a trust unequalled by any other.

    Al-Maahee: (the destroyer/effacer). This has been explained in the hadeeth of Jubair bin Mut`am: "al-Maahee: the one through whom Allaah destroys and effaces unbelief." {2}

    Disbelief was not destroyed and removed by any single person as completely as was done by the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam). For indeed he was sent, and all of the inhabitants of the earth were in disbelief, except for some remnants of the People of the Book. Consisting of the worshippers of idols, the Jews who had the Anger of Allaah on them, the Christians who had been misguided, the atheist Saabi`een, the worshippers of the stars and the fire, and the philosophers who did not acknowledge the laws of the Prophets. And Allaah effaced them all through His Messenger until He established His religion and made it supreme over all others, and made it spread to the extent that the night and day spreads, and made his call as the rays of the sun in the various lands.

    Al-Haashir: (the Gatherer). He is the one who gathered and united the people at his feet, and therefore it was as if he had been sent for this purpose.

    Al-Aaqib: (The Last). He is the one who came at the end of the line of Prophets, and there is no prophet after him.

    Al-Muqaffee: (). He is the one who was sent with the characteristics of the Messengers that had preceded him, and was their seal.

    Nabi at-Tawba: (the Prophet of Repentance). It was by him that Allaah opened the door of repentance for the inhabitants of the earth [by them accepting his message], and Allaah forgave them with a forgiveness that was not given to the people before him. {3}

    And the Prophet (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) was the one who sought forgiveness from Allaah the most, to the extent that he would say, "My Lord forgive me and turn toward me, You are The Oft-Forgiving, The Oft-Returning" {4}, 100 times in a single sitting. And he used to say, "O people repent to Allaah, your Lord, for indeed I repent to Allaah 100 times in a day". {5}

    And likewise the repentance of his (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) nation is more complete than the repentance of all the other nations, the most quickest in being answered, and the easiest to be obtained. For the repentance of the previous nations was of the most difficult matters, to the extent that the repentance for the worshippers of the cow amongst the People of Israa`eel was to kill those worshippers. {6} But as for this nation, then from the Kindness of Allaah to it is that he has made repentance dependant upon sorrow and abstaining (from the sin in question).

    Nabi al-Malhama: (The Prophet of Slaughter). He was the one who was sent with Jihaad to the enemies of Allaah, and no prophet before him did Jihaad to the extent that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) and his nation fought Jihaad. And the like of the large wars that took place between him and the disbelievers were not seen before him. For his nation fought the disbelievers in lands to the ends of the earth.

    Nabi ar-Rahma:
    (The Prophet of Mercy). He was the one whom Allaah sent as a Mercy for the universe. And Allaah was Merciful to all the people of the earth through him, both the believers and the disbelievers.

    Al-Faatih: (the opener/conqueror). It was through him that Allaah opened the door of guidance after it had been closed, and opened closed eyes and deaf ears and sealed hearts. And through him Allaah conquered the lands of the disbelievers, and opened the doors of Paradise, and opened through him the ways of acquiring beneficial knowledge and righteous actions. And He opened through him both the doors of this world and the hereafter.

    Al-Ameen: (the Trustworthy). He is the most deserving out of all creation for this name. For he is the trustee of Allaah of His revelation and religion. And he is the trusted one in the Heaven and in the earth. And this is why he was called al-Ameen before his Prophethood.

    Al-Basheer: (the Bearer of glad tidings). He is the bearer of glad tidings for the one who obeys him of reward, and he is the Warner (an-Nadheer) of the one who disobeys him of punishment.

    And Allaah called him his servant (Abd) in many places in His Book for example, 'Blessed be He who revealed the Furqaan to His servant'. {7}

    It is established that he (sallallaahu ’alayhi wa sallam) said, "I am the Master (sayyid) of the children of Aadam [on the Day of Judgement] and I am not being arrogant." {8}

    And Allaah called him an Illuminating Lamp (Siraaj Muneer). And all praise is due to Allaah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

    To, Ya Rasool Allah:

    As Salaatu Was Salaamu Alaika Ya Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihe-e-Wa-Sallam)

    Prophet Sulaiman (AS) (Solomon) and his Sahabi Tubbah Harreri visited Yathrib. (Tyeba/Medina)

    Prophet Sulaiman (AS) ordered his Tahath (Throne) to lower down at a place called Yathrib and told his sahabi Tubbha Harreri that this is the place where the Prophet of the prophet’s is going to arrive.

    Tubbha Harreri was surprised and replied: “This Prophet, Is He going to be higher in Status then you?”

    Hazrat Sulaiman (AS) Replied: “If He was here, I would tie His Shoe Laces”

    Tubbah Harrieri then requested Hazrat Sulaiman (AS) if he could stay here and wait for the King of all the prophet’s?

    Hazrat Sulaiman (AS) Replied “Yes, if you so wish!”

    The Sahabi of Hazrat Sulaiman(AS) started to build houses and asked the people around the caves, hills and huts to come and live there, when the people came and saw they were amazed to see all the houses that were build.

    They saw all the houses were one story, except for one, that was two Story the people enquired; “Tubbah Harreri why is this particular one two story?”

    Tubba Harreri replied: “After all it is for the one who will be High in Status then all of them, that is why it is double story and this house I have built is for him.”

    These where the first settlements who started to live in Yathrib and Tubbah Harreri was patiently waiting for the arrival of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihe-e-Wa-Sallam)

    As time went by Tubbha Harreri was now getting old and weak and the time had come for his farewell.

    On his Death bed he wrote a letter saying: “Ya Rasool Allah! (Sallallahu Alaihe-e-Wa-Sallam) I heard from my nabi that You are going to arrive here, my last moment has arrived and I must leave this world, I have built this House for You so please accept it”

    Tubbah Harreri then gave this letter to his son and asked him to give this letter to the Nabi of the nabi’s, when he arrives.

    So as time and centuries went by through each generation after generation of Tubbah Harreri they passed the letter on until it finally reached Hazrat Ayub Ansari (RA)

    When the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihe-e-Wa-Sallam) arrived at Yathrib, He was invited by the settlers to stay at their homes, but the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihe-e-Wa-Sallam) replied: “I will stay where my camel will rest”

    So the camel decided to rest at Hazrat Ayub Ansari’s door step.

    The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihe-e-Wa-Sallam) then asked Hazrat Ayub Ansari: “Would you like to give Me My “Imaanat” (Letter)

    Hazrat Ayub Ansari was surprised to hear about the letter and Replied:

    “Ya Rasool Allah only my father and I had the knowledge of this letter”

    The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihe-e-Wa-Sallam) replied:

    “I was watching him, (your forefather) when he was writing the letter”

    Subhan Allah!

    Default Re: Thread Dedicated to our Beloved Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam)

    Version 2

    There was Asad ibn Karab who was the king of Yemen.

    This powerful King on an expedition to Syria, on the way came to Yathrib and subjugated it.

    Leaving his son behind as his representative, he went on. As soon as he left, the city rose in revolt and killed the Yemeni prince. On hearing of the revolt, the King returned and raged the city to the ground.

    To help the city dwellers, some scholarly Jewish priests met the King.

    They tried to impress upon him the importance of the city of Yathrib and its divinity.

    They told the King that they had concluded interpreting prophecies and other divine signs that Yathrib was the city, to where the last Prophet would migrate.

    From thence, this would be his abode from where he would direct his mission and this would be the last resting- place of the chosen one, until the ‘Day of Judgement’.

    The city would be named ‘Tyeba’ meaning Sacred. Angels protect the city and whosoever tries to destroy it would be destroyed.

    After that, they described the qualities of the last Prophet and the distinction his religion will enjoy until the Day of Judgement.

    The King was an honest, noble and large-hearted man. Believing in the words of the learned priests, he took up the true religion of the time.

    Later, he built a Palace in the town and given that to an heir with an instruction to the descendents that would occupy the palace at the time of the advent of the promised prophet.

    He was advised to present himself before the Prophet and request him to kindly consent to live in the palace, since it was built for him.

    Thence on an heir lived in the palace waiting for the promised one.

    When the time came and the Prophet arrived, Hazrat Ayub Ansari was the occupant of this palace. On hearing the news of Hazrat Muhammad’s (PBUH) arrival, he rushed to the spot and invited the Prophet to occupy the palace.

    Hazrat Ayub Ansari lived a few yards away from where Muhammad’s (PBUH) camel rested on the ground. The Prophet gracefully accepted the invitation. On the first occasion, Hazrat Ayub Ansari gave the letter of his ancestor king to the Prophet.

    Whence it was written in the King’s own handwriting:

    “I declare that Ahmed is the Messenger of God. If I were alive and met him I certainly would be his servant and cooperate with him”

    (Wafah al-Wafah, part-I, Zuzbul Kulub).

    It is noteworthy that, later, the King went to Mecca with a delegation of Savants and laid a cover on the Ka’aba made of Yemeni fabric, for the first time. From Then on, it became a custom to cover the House of the Lord, which continues until today (Kassasul Qur’än).

    According to the letter, Hazrat Ayub Ansari wanted to give the whole house to the Prophet, but Muhammad disagreed. Then Hazrat Ansari requested him to occupy the first floor, but the Prophet keeping his companions’ comfort in the mind chose the ground floor

    (Wafah al-Wafah).
