Deobandis do follow the Aqeeda of Imam Abu Hanifa.
Just because the school is called Maturidi doesn't mean that Imam al-Maturidiinvented it, otherwise, it would be wrong to follow "Hanafi" Aqeeda as well, because this would be an implication that one was following an Aqeeda invented by Imam Abu Hanifa
.
This is a common ploy used by the opponents of Deobandis. They make you think that calling oneself "Maturidi" would imply that ones doesn't follow the Aqeeda of Imam Abu Hanifa, when it is well known that Imam Maturidi clarified and rationalized the Aqeeda of Imam Abu Hanifa (specifically, though it could be said that the Imam also represents the Aqeeda of at least a part of the rest of the Salaf), and didn't create his own Aqeeda.

Walaikumsalam & Ramadhan Mubarak,
I cant really speak for the Deobandi School but i am positive they study and adhere to classical texts like Aqidahtul Tahawiyyah (wich is the Aqidah of Imam Abu Hanifa according to the great scholar Imam Tahawi) but they also study and rely on al Fiqh al Akbar (attributed to Imam Abu Hanifa by certain scholars).
Ramadhan mubarak. Jazakum Allah khair for all your replies

For over a thousand years, the hanafi ulama have explained to us the aqidah of al-Imam al-A'zam through their commentaries on texts such as al-Fiqh al-Akbar, written by the imam himself, and al-'Aqidah al-Tahawiyyah which, although not written by our imam, is a trustworthy transmission of his beliefs.
So on one side we have the hanafi ulama (although there are exceptions) explaining to us the aqidah of their imam, whilst on the other side we have salafis, many of whom have hatred for al-Imam al-A'zam, telling us that the hanafi ulama have got it completely wrong.
You can decide for yourself who understands Imam Abu Hanifah best.

could one of the resident ulama please please clarify this issue coz the other day,one brother related to me that a prominent scholar told him that in fiqh he is hanafi and aqidah salafi and that he can prove that Imam Abu Hanifah(r.a.) was salafi in aqidah.I'd appreciate it if only the ulama reply.

I think only a foolish person would say that Imam Abu Hanifa, a member of the Salaf himself, followed the Salaf in Aqeeda.
Rather, his Aqeeda represents the Aqeeda of (at least a part of) the Salaf.
Therefore, one who follows the Imamin his Aqeeda is following the Salaf in Aqeeda, and could be called a "Salafi" in Aqeeda.
As for the group/sect which are known as "Salafis," they clearly to do not follow the same Aqeeda as Imam Abu Hanifa, and this can easily be seen by reading his own works, which they have had to deny, due to the works being contrary to their beliefs. Further, a inquiry into the Aqeeda of early Hanafis would also provide an indication into the beliefs of their teacher, and people like Imam Maturidi
prove, once again, that Salafis do not follow the Aqeeda of Imam Abu Hanifa
.
Now, to be completely fair, I don't believe it can be said that Salafis have beliefs contrary to the entirety of the Salaf, and a strong case can definitely be made that they do follow the Aqeeda of Imam Ahmad(hence one of their name being "Hanbalis"), but it is ridiculous for them to try to claim that their beliefs are shared by Imam Abu Hanifa
.

I don't think this cureent discussion will be of any help to the sister. Why don't you open another thread for your debate??
