Default Shacklewell Lane Mosque London new mosque organisers

I know this is a bit London centric query, has anyone heard suggestions that local brothers from Salafi background are in negotiations with the Turkish Cypriot management to take over the day to day running of the masjid. I kinda recall it used to be frequented by mureeds of Sheikh Nazim for gatherings and lately it has now really only become a "Ramazam Cami" and a funeral place for the twiddling Turkish Cypriot community. I'm surprised no other members of the local community have approached the management to do the same thing at this large under used, listed architecturally striking building. Large enough for a good location for another Halal Turkish restaurant too

Wasalaams Br, i assume it may be this organisation - http://activeinhackney.com/

i know these brothers and from the relatively few talks ive attended there they seemed are quite open minded 'salafis'. Far as i knew they only have there talks and programs there - i didnt know if there is/was the intention to take it over fully. If so that'll mean Hackney well have two official salafi masjids - Shackwell Lane Masjid and the new Leswin Road Masjid.

Shackwell Lane Masjid was truly empty/dead before these guys moved their talks there from the Shoreditch Hall they used to use before.

Bro which turkish masjid is alive in the UK??? There is the 1 with the restaurant..aziziya...but the actual restaurant is way more alive than the masjid....I met an imam of one of the turkish masjids who used to come to my university. He had a girlfriend!! I seriously am concerned about the turkish and kurdish communities in the UK. Something seriously needs to be done and quickly....

This website actually does ring a bell of someone else mentioning this org earlier this year. Are the brothers from the local Stamford Hill area / mosque or from some other part of Hackney near the city?

    open minded 'salafis'
    in what sense?

Yes, sadly the Turkish community here is in a sad sate. Beautiful but empty masjids, though there has been a slow improvement over the past decade or so with more young faces appearing in their masjids.....by no means many but alhumdolillah increase none the less.

Shackwell Lane or ActiveinHackney has no connection with Stamford Hill or Clapton or any other large local ‘busy’ masjid. I said open as in the recent past they tried to get a local (very well spoken and knowledgeable) hanafi Mufti to give a class/talk at their weekly Friday evening event, though due the busy schedule of the Mufti this hasn’t been possible but they keep on asking. They also had Mufti Barakatullah’s wife (or daughter?) give a sisters talk there. The main salafi brothers there are both Turkish.

Would that be Mufti Abdur Rahman at masjid Quba? or probably not as he was at the talk on Friday by Shaykh Abdur Raheem Limbada where the general message was to not associate/mix with Salafi brothers. Although, I might have got the wrong end of the stick in terms of what the Shaykh was trying to get across to the audiance.

I WAS NOT there but I can't believe Maulana Abur Raheem would have said that.
