Default Blowing on thumbs after Salaat

    AsalaamsWW,

I noticed now for years since far back as i can remember that many of us after farz salaat pray something then blow on our thumbs then pass the thumbs over the eyes once or three times. Can someone please post a link here describing exactly whats prayed and the method its done and the evidences for it (or book its described in and where i can buy the book from)

    Jazakallah...

    Wa alaykum salam,

I do not have the evidences but I am assuming people recite 'Ya Lateefu' 11 times. This is supposed to be for strengthening the eyesight.

There's another one 'Ya Qawiyyu' which people recite 11 times for memory, too.

I use to recite ya nur three times and each time blow on my fingers and rub my eyes. I was pretty sure it was a sunnah. One salafi guy asked me where i got that practice from and I confidently told him it was in a book I had. When I told him it was a dua book with no sources, he just laughed. Only after 'researching' the matter I realized its not a sunnah, but rather if I remeber correctly it is recommended by Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi. Mufti Zubair Butt had a response to a query about Reciting Ya Qawiyy and Ya Nuru 11 times and then blowing your fingers and rubbing your eyes after Salat, and he did not classify it as biddah. His website is down at the moment.

^ Whoops, sorry. I meant Ya Nooru, not Ya Lateefu.

Theres not only this one but another when you pray something then blow on your hands then wipe your hand over your chest (heart) - whats that one?

Another where you put your one hand on your head and pray something but no blowing - i think i recall a brother mentioned that a sahaba done this head amaal and its referenced in Hayatus Sahaba by Molana Yusuf (ra), can someone verify the evidence, let me know whats prayed, how many times and exact method?

I remember some years back after esha jamaat just finished a local brother done the blowing over thumbs/rubbing eyes one and another head one so fast whilst getting up in a rush (Champions League night) it looked a strange sight him getting up and walking between the rows and at the same time blowing on thumbs then eyes then head etc all in a rush ........ ( still i think his Scouse team lost by the way)

    Assalamu Alaikum

I was taught to place my hand on my forehead and say ya qawi. There is also dua which I think is mentioned by Imam Nawawi which you say after salah while placing your hand on your forehead

    Assalamu Alaikum

This is from al adkhar of Imam nawawi

To bro rqsnt, I was only passing on what I found out. When the website is up again you can read Mufti Zubair's response.

    Asalam alyekum,
The defination of bid'ah is very clear to whoever care about his religion.....
when Allah's apostle(PBUH) was asked by the Shaabah (Ridhwanulah Aj'maeen) how to observe solat,He told them point clear to do it exactly as seen him doing it...... though am not going against these act of prayers after each solat Only if there is any Aunthentic Hadith which support these act then there is nothing to argue about again but if there is'nt, it is a CAPITAL BID'AH (INNOVATION).

    Maa Salam.
    Salvation through Repentance??
Make a sincere Taubah unto your Rubb, Allah (Azzawajall) does not count on the quantity of Repentance but the quality....!!!
