the only name i could think of is Zayd bin Thabit (Radh Allah Annu)who was quite instrumental when it comes to compilation of the Quran into Mas Haf and this was after many of the huffadh at that time were killed during the Battle of Yamaamah.
Now if your friend asks about the authenticity of the Quran, just answer him/her that at that time, they would ask all the Sahaaba who heard the Qur’an and memorized it with the Prophet (SAW) to recite it to Zayd Ibn Thabit (RAW) and they required that there be two people that know that same verse. The only exception that was made in this matter was that of Aboo Khuzaymah (RAW), who was the only one who knew the end of Surat At Tawbah because the Prophet (SAW) said about Aboo Khuzaymah, that his testimony is equal to two testimonies. And in following the Sunnah of RasoolAllah (SAW) they accepted Aboo Khuzaymah’s testimony as double and included that part in the Qur’an.
Hope this helped...

It depends what he means. If he means the origin of the Quran then thsi is obviously from Allah the Exalted Himself, and if he means who collected it and put it into book form then various Sahabah did this the most prominent of them being Zayd ibn Thabit. There are some subtle matters that have to be addressed about this matter as well, so it all depends on what your friend meant.assalaamu alaykum

There were different 'Kaatibal-Wahiyy' (people who wrote down the Qur'an whenever it was revealed). The names I am certain of are Ali Ibn Abi Talib, Zaid Ibn Thabit and Mu'awiyyah Ibn Abi Sufyan. And I think Hazrat Umar
was one too, because he was also amongst the closest companions of the Messenger of Allah
who knew how to read and write.
Wasn't Ka'b bin Maalikone also?
.

The opening chapters of Maariful Quran (by Mufti Muhammad Shafi RA) gives and excellent insight into it aswell.
