Books on Taqlid

I have to give a book to an ahle hadith brother on taqlid and the four madhaabs...I want to give a book or detailed article to him that is written by a non indo pak, non deobandi, non barelvi scholar (preferably non hanafi)... The english of that book or article should be simple to understand, and ALL the related issues should be dealt within it...Please guide to me to a source...I have to email him so it should be some online source explaining how the four imams did not consult the telephone directory but Quran and sunnah before giveing fatawa...

You are welcome brother. By the way if you want a good, simple book for your own reading then "The Legal Status of following a Madhhab" by Mufti Taqi Usmani is very good. I think that it is available online for free also. Wasalaam.

You are late bro...I read that a month back and changed my stance on taqlid...started doing it more like...however that book was not the only thing that changed me....there were tens of factors..
