Why the Hanafi madhab?

Assalamu alaykum,

First of all I am a revert so I don't know much about madhab's. I do know that the Imam at the mosque (where I have been learning from) follows the hanafi madhab. I don't want to follow it blindly so I would like to ask why should I follow the hanafi madhab as opposed to the others?

Masha'Allah sister, may Allah swt increase your iman and grant you further guidance in this matter.

To put it simply, all four madhabs (hanafi, shafi'i, maliki and hanbali) are correct and one should follow which ever they have easiest access to. So for example, if the scholars in your locality are mostly those who abide by the hanafi madhab then this is the madhab you should follow. As it is the hanafi scholars you have easiest access to.

Choose the madhhab which you can learn easily and whose teachers are most easily available to you.

You don't need to follow anything blindly and you can definitely improve your knowledge and study of

the sources of Islam by reading the right kind of books and interacting with scholars.
