Can someone please check these ingredients and tell me if this product is Halal?

Asalaamualaikum. We have a 1.5 yr old baby who has taken up a thumb sucking habit, and after some research online, we found a product called "Mavala Stop" which seems to work for many people. Anyway, here are its ingredients:

Ethyl Acetate, Alcohol Denat., PVM/MA Copolymer, Phthalic Anhydride/Trimellitic Anhydride/Glycols Copolymer, Butyl Acetate, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Sucrose Octaacetate, Denatonium Benzoate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Benzophenone-1, D&C Violet No. 2.


The idea of this product is that you apply it to the baby's nails and let it dry. It is supposed to have a bad taste so the baby wont put the thumb in her mouth, but obviously she will have to try it first before discovering it has a bad taste.. so we wanted to check if it is halal. I searched Alcohol Denat and found that it is halal in perfumes, but what about if it is licked? What about the other ingredients.

Please do not use the Mavala Stop for children because Alcohol Denatured is made of 95% ethyl alcohol and 5% methyl alcohol in USA. Methyl alcohol is a poisonous chemical. Polymers, ethyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, Isopropyl alcohol are not supposed to be put in your mouth. There are many healthy alternates for babies.

I know nothing about the product that you asked about, but I did know a girl once who tried a product like what you described to help her stop biting her nails and..... well, she did not stop. Instead she developed a taste for it. The same could happen with infants.

Ahem...I'm not ashamed to admit this, I used to do this also, however I think I mostly copied my cousin, as she always walked around the house with her mums scarf...

Keep your child busy, take them out, read with them, interactive books that they can feel, go to parks and discover things, I know we always have something better to do than bring our kids up right, but believe it's worth it in the end and you get reward for it too.

Don't make a massive issue for the child, they might keep doing it till they are quite old like my cousin did *wonders if she still does it*

It is not haraam, but it is not good for their thumb and teeth.

1.5 years is theeting age so ur baby is having itch thats why she is more prone to thumb sucking
this is mainly useed for adult nail biting habbits
any thing as treatment is not haram but as ur baby is to small for this you can try some home remedy like bitter gourd,or some chilli or some bandage, some lolly pop or any thing she likes...
I know you must have tried many things but be patiensits easy to mould child..distract the baby

give your daughter alittle longer then try talking to your daughter to stop sucking her thumb. tell her , her teeth will stick out. I did i explaiined to my daughter when she was about 3, do you know she completely stopped , just by talking calmly and explaining.
