    Assalaam-o-Alikum,

    1. I feel that comments on such an importent matter can not be based on just ones thinking.

    2. I would like to present the facts, and as I am not a Mufti, let a mufti give the verdict.

    i. All homeopathic medicines are made from a source known as MT (mother tincture)
ii. Mt is almost 100% ethanol
iii. Small quantities of MT are again diluted in ethanol to get the required potency
iv. Ethanol is the scientific name of common alcohol
    v. There is a clear hadeeth which states that anything which intoxicates in a large quantity is
    prohibited even in smaller quantity.
vi. Can homeopathic medicines be labelled as life saving medicines

Where did you get that impression?

Read the link above, it depends on the source of the Alcohol for the Hanafis.

    Assalamualaikum,

Shaykh Ashraf Dockrat Saab - I was wondering how I would be able to contact you or if the mods could pass on my email to you - I had a question about some homeopathic remedy and its permissibility (Calc. Carb - from oyster shell) and wanted to get in touch if possible.

    JazakAllahu Khairan.

    Dear Brother

I have used homeopathic medicine for the last 20 years. All homeopathic medication does NOT contain alcohol.

They are absolutely halaal and there is no question about this. If you are talking about the tinctures then this is only one presentation form of the remedies.

I suggest that you do some background reading on the subject first.

    Wassalam
I would like to know more from your experience on comparative medicine please.

I thought many Allopathic medicine or conventional medicine as such have alcohol and other substances in them OR active agents that mimic their
    use.
I always thought there is no problem with it in a
' the end justifies the means ' approach to medicine and Islamic law .

Of course I am a layman in these matters but my common sense can not
accept some of the comments here , they sound like comments from
    christian jehova's witness group .

Surely Islam has a more sophisticated and practical approach to these
    matters .... ?
    Surely in the Hanafi Fiqh.
