Not sure exactly but Ummah Welfare do their qurbani's at £55. http://www.uwt.org/site/project_details.asp?id=151 The price of the qurbani animals wil fluctuate and are at their peak at Eid ul Adha time.

A large animal (7 parts) is alot dearer. In Kashmir for around £800. We do ours in West Bengal for £70. £80 if you want to buy the animal a couple of months in advance and pay someone to feed it and care for it every day until the qurbani.

Actually, I have to make up the Qurbanis of my first two years as a Muslim, when I followed the Shafi'i Madhhab (for which Id al-Adha Qurbani is not wajib, if i remember correctly).

So, if I send 110£ as Sadaqah to a brother (eligible for Zakah) who lives in Pakistan (Kashmir), this should be fine?
I would be glad if you confirmed, may Allah reward you.

I'm not going to ask him to make Qurbani on my behalf, as this wouldn't be valid anymore for the past missed years: I already got a fatwa from Mufti Moosa sahab about having to give Sadaqah (and the brother will just keep the money for himself); my doubt was rather about the amount of money which I should send; i.e. I see on that website it's 55£ so I'm going use this price to calculate how much to send (110£).

    Sorry for taking your time.

You just have to give the average price of a qurbani, so £110 should cover it for two.

why do you have to make it up if it is not wajib in the shafee madhab and you, yourself were a shafee at the time?

I don't think I have to, but just to be on the safe side... Wa Allahu a'lam..

Also, this brother needs some money so I would join the two things - even though I had initially thought about making three Qurbanis this year, before reading it's not valid..

The prices of goats and cows have sky-rocketed this year as the flood destroyed livestock in Pakistan....As of yet you are getting an average sized goat for16 to 20 thousand rupees in Islamabad....The Masjids arw charging 6-7 thousand rupees for a share in cow and 10000 for a goat as far as ijtimai qurbani goes in Islamabad...

P.S Islamabad is a little expensive than the rest of the country...
