He completed his undergraduate studies in Arabic, Islamic Civilization, and Political Theory at the University of Chicago. Shaykh Kamaluddin then spent many years in Pakistan studying full-time the classical disciplines of Islamic learning and received both the ‘Alim and Takhassus degrees. For over fifteen years, Shaykh Kamaluddin has consistently remained in the close company of Hazrat Shaykh Zulfiqar Ahmad and was granted ijaza in tasawwuf (Islamic spirituality) in 2002. For the past six years, Shaykh Kamaluddin was a professor of Islamic intellectual history, legal theory, spirituality, and ethics at one of Pakistan's leading universities. He is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Islamic intellectual history and legal theory at the University of Oxford. In 2005, the Shaykh and his wife established an Islamic educational institute for women in Lahore (www.ZaynabAcademy.org) that also offers courses online. The Shaykh regularly delivers lectures on Islamic topics at Masjids, Darul Ulooms, and Universities, many of which may be heard online at www.IslamicSpirituality.org
