Default Prayer for new muslims Help!

Can a new muslim pray in english until they fully understand the arabic?
I say this because i was learning how to pray in arabic but i relazied i wasnt fully understanding what i was saying on memorizing it. So i went back to praying in english, is this ok for the time being?
Also, I was learning how to pray and when talking about it with a friend they pray differently then I do, does any one know the proper way to pray? or a link to website that might be useful?
Im a bit confused on the fard, sunnah etc aspect 2,3+1 etc?? I dont understand that part.
    Assalamu Alaykim

First off, congrats on becoming a muslim!!!! I'm soo happy for you!!!

I asked a shiekh at our local mosque and he said that there's no problem to make your dua (sublications) in English when praying, but it's better for you to say the important things in Arabic, like if you learned Surah Al-Fatiha, and the short suplications you say when bowing and stuff.... If you're still learning the Arabic version then it's alright to pray with English for the time being. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it clearly, so these websites will be very helpful to you:

    http://www.themuslimwoman.com/choose...guidetoprayer/

    http://islam.about.com/od/prayer/Prayer_Salat.htm

There are 5 prayers that are fard which inclue Fajr, Thuhur, Asr, Maghrib, Isha. The timing for them differs depending where you live.

For Fajr there are two raka's that are fard that you pray before Fajr.

Then for thuhur, the sunnah's are four raka's before the fard prayer (two and two) then four after the fard prayer (two and two)

For Asr there are four before the fard prayer (two and two).

For Maghrib there are two after the fard prayer

For Isha there are two after the fard prayer then you pray Witr which technically is fard also and consists of either 1 raka'a or 3. To read more about Witr prayer and the night prayers, go to:

    http://www.dhuha.net/en/content/isla...rm-witr-prayer

.... umm, thats about it! If you need anything else, I'd love to help!

    Salam!

lol, I don't strictly follow a specific madhab, I practically follow all four, it's just that that wasn't an option when I signed up for the forum, they had None and Don't Know but not All

YOU shouldn't follow All of the four madhabs at one time, and you don't really have the ability to do so, you wouldn't understand when you should or shouldn't go outside of or inside each madhab you would only be picking rulings based upon your desire or ignorance. Not only that but you will also be mixing up different fundamentals of how each individual ruling was extracted and put in place.

If anything follow a scholar who decides for himself to follow Qur'an and Sunnah- and follow him in his decisions, don't do it yourself.
