Default Wisdom from the scholars of Ihsan (Islamic Spirituality)

    Bismillahir Rahman Rahim,

    Islamic Spirituality

    Its prophetic name is Ihsan
    Its traditional name is Tasawwuf
    Its english name is Sufism

I hope to share some of the wisdoms from the scholars of Sufism.

Shaykh Akbar Ibn Arabi said, "The path to reach the knowledge of the folk (the Sufis) is through faith and piety: 'And whoever fears Allah, He shall make a way out for him, and provide him from whence he least expect' (Talaq: 3) Provision here is two types: spiritual provision, and phyiscal provision. The Exalted say, 'Fear Allah and Allah shall teach you' (2:282) This means: He shall teach you the Divine sciences what you did not know previously through intermediate means."

    My Thoughts:

This illustrates the importance of having taqwa. It leads both to spiritual provision and physical provision. Have Taqwa and Allah will teach you. That is in the Quran. Taqwa is the basis for one's spiritual travel.

    Assalaamalaikum,
A small correction if you donmt mind.
It's Quranic name is 'Tazkiya' as occurs in Surah Shams and Alaa. Taqwa is a part of Tazkiya itself.
"Hajj and jihad under the leadership of those in charge of the Muslims, whether they are right or wrong-acting, are continuing obligations until the Last Hour comes."-Aqida Tahawiyya

There are over 2000 thousand different definitions of Sufism, some related to its goal (ie Ihsan), and others relate to its means (method) to attaining the goal (ie Tazkiyah). So that is probably the relationship. And Allah knows best.

agreed..however without arguing (insha Allah) one still needs to understand certain terms and the objective of the path of sulook. I say this because brother omega's statement in reply to sister hubb-e-ilahi's question is confusing.

    @ Sister hubb-e-ilahi, assalaamu 'alaykum.
The following posts are from www.shaykh.org which records the teachings of Shaykh Muhammad Saleem Dhorat (hafizahullah) and they explain both Tazkiyah and its aim:

“The process of purifying the heart is known as Tazkiyah. Tazkiyah consists of Takhliyah, which means to purify the heart of debasing qualities, and Tahliyah, which entails decorating the heart with praiseworthy traits.”

Shaykh once clarified the meaning of Tazkiyah (the purification of the soul):
“Tazkiyah is a curriculum which one undertakes. The objectives of this curriculum are the acquisition of Ikhlaas and the love of Allah”.

Brother I really didn't mean to argue over terms. That is not my area of concern.I just wanted to clear my views about what I have read.
Jazak Allah for your reply before it goes further.

I hope to read more wisdom of elders inshaAllah.
