Assalaam 'Alaykum,
I am having some trouble understanding bid'ah. Correct me if I am wrong:
Imaam Shaafi'i classified Bid'ah into two in religion. Good Bid'ah and Evil Bid'ah.
And many 'Ulamaa classified it into 5 categories. Are these categories in the religion or are they related outside of deen? or both? or lingustically?
And some believed Bid'ah as evil only in the Deen. And matters in 'urf were not termed bid'ah as it proved Haraam/Halaal through the Qur'an, Sunnah, Ijmaa' and Qiyaas.
What is the Hanafee stance because I have heard the 5 categories as well as the two stance?

or the four caliphs, Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, and 'Ali
, in spite of them having had the ability to do so (Shatibi, Al-I'tisam).
