    Well at least it'll get all those carbonated drink- addicts drinking some more water! It isnt natural, therefore it cannot be very good for your bodies! Freedom from carbonated soft drinks!

    Coca-Cola's original formula did contain alcohol, but they don't use the same formula anymore. That being said, it is wise to stay away from it.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coca-Cola_formula

    This recipe is attributed to a sheet of paper found in an old formulary book owned by Coca-Cola inventor, John S. Pemberton, just before his death:

    * 1 oz. citrate caffeine
    * 3 oz. citric acid
    * 1 oz. extract vanilla
    * 1 Qt. lime juice
    * 2 1/2 oz. flavoring
    * 30 lbs. sugar
    * 4 oz. fluid extract of coca (decocainized flavor essence of the coca leaf)
    * 2 1/2 gal. water
    * Caramel sufficient
    * 80 Oil orange
    * 40 Oil cinnamon
    * 120 Oil lemon
    * 20 Oil coriander
    * 40 Oil nutmeg
    * 40 Oil neroli
    * 1 Qt. alcohol

    "Mix caffeine acid and lime juice in 1 quart boiling water add vanilla and flavoring when cool. Let stand for 24 hours. Flavoring is likely a mixture orange oil, lemon, nutmeg oil, cinnamon oil, coriander oil, neroli oil and 1 quart of alcohol."

    This recipe does not specify when sugar, coca, caramel or the rest of the water are added.

    In conclusion...yes this has become quite controversial but hey stay on the safe side and avoid coco-cola... just replace it with something less doubtful like carbonated flavor water, i hear it comes in great flavors (cherry,lemon,peach etc.) and Inshallah Allah't'ala will guide us on the right path
    Thanks n regards!

    Default Doctor Discovers Alcohol In Bottle Of Coke

    DOCTOR DISCOVERS ALCOHOL IN BOTTLE OF COKE
    Lenzinfo Journalist - 07/07/05

    A Muslim Doctor has told 702 Eyewitness News he's outraged after he discovered alcohol in a bottle of Coke. Doctor Haroun Dindar says laboratory tests proved the coke contained almost, one gram of alcohol per hundred millilitres of the liquid.

    Dr Dindar said that his daughter informed him, at a family braai a couple of weekends ago, that the coke she had just poured had a funny taste. The doctor took a sample of the coke and sent it to a laboratory for testing, he also notified the Ermelo coke depot of this, when the results were returned it was positive that the coke contained alcohol. During Dr Dindars interview on 702 with John Robbie this morning, the Coca Cola Communications officer phoned in to reply to the Doctors query and he said that the cause of the coke having alcohol traces was due to a crack in the bottle causing yeast in the air to combine with chemicals in the coke to form a reaction and creating alcohol.

    The Doctor sent out a warning not only to Muslims but also to non-alcohol drinkers and parents to be aware that this kind of incidents do occur and he said that he would no longer drink any Coca Cola product.

    Just curious, I don't know about alcohol being in coca-cola (though I'm sceptical), but there is alcohol in oranges (about 0.5% I think). Are you permitted to eat oranges?
