Default Mgmt Accountant / Tax consultant, allowed?

Was wondering whether working as management accoutant or tax consultant is fine. i plan to pursue one of them.
being a mgmt acc one might have to advise on interest matters.
tax consultants r usually sought for tax avoidance purposes.

Moreover, any one working in these fields has any tips?

I'm also looking for the same answer.

I've heard that management accounting is industry based so basically the management accountant works in the company and is involved in all the financial matters. nowadays most of the company runs on bank loans/ debenture loans and interest payements and recievables. are the management accountants involved in advising the company in which loan to take out etc...? or can they just give them list of options in raising finance with pros and cons including bank loan and let the director make the final decision.

Mang Accnt jobs are usually very halal. You are not going to jump to become the controller of the company that you have to advise on which loans to take (usually). You would probably be doing AR, AP variance analysis, job costing, and so forth for many years.

Tax consultant jobs are also halal if you are not lying. I checked with islamic finance mufti. However, in practice, tax consultants lie a lot to reduce tax burdens. If you don't, then clients may go find someone else who is willing to lie, and save them money :-(

Please double check fatwas again. If you have questions about what accountants do, please post back.

Tax consultant or Tax Adviser work in Industry is different. All the work is done according to statutory legislation and there is no lying. Companies are always going through compliance reviews and audits. They have to be careful not to miss or hide anything as it can be picked up in audit by internal audit or HMRC.

I was talking about personal taxes in the US. I don't know about other countries.

Yes, tax work in the industry may be different.

I would also like to add that tax consulting a very broad field with many different specialties. And each field will have its issues with lying or not lying.

I can write you on a bond paper, that the work of accountants has some kind of gimmick in it. How much ever the company may be righteous, their ultimate aim to gain maximum profits. So to save money, finance people have to do something

I know many muslim finance students who give themselves fake satisfactions like companies are extra cautious about accounts, we dont need to lie etc... This is absolutely not possible

    Allah knows best
