Rasoolullah also honored Sa'd bin Abi waqqas (ra) in a way no one else was honoured.
In those days people honoured others by saying 'may my father be your ransom' or 'may my mother be your ransom'. During Uhud battle Sad was one of those who fought vigorously in defence of Rasoolullah (saw). To urge him on Rasoolullah (saw) said: "Irmi Sad...Fidaaka Abi wa Ummi " Shoot, Sad ...may my mother and father be your ransom."
On this occasion, Ali ibn Abi Talib(ra) said that he had not yet heard the Prophet(saw) promising such a ransom(ie both mother and father) to anyone except Sa'd.
