    Default how to power nap?

salaams- i heard that power napping is important Islamically because the kuffar way of 9-5 work is not the way we are made to be living. I try to nap a little after fajr and before work (I know this is not the best time, but there is no other time i can nap) and I have trouble getting to sleep, it takes me 30-40 minutes to sleep then I have to wake up. It seems I have racing thought while trying to get to sleep...I know some people/shuyookh sleep for 10-15 minutes in the middle of the daym then get up and ready to go! How do they do it?

    jazakallah khairun.

It is against the sunnah to sleep after fajr.
The best time for the power nap is around noon time.
The sunnah is not just about sleeping but resting is sufficient as Hadrath Umar [Allah be pleased with him] would lie down and get back up just to fulfil the sunnah however others would lie and relax, rest the eyes and then get up. This will be a good start until you are able to get into the habit of a proper sleep.

    Asalam Alykum wrwb,

    Brother try to avoid:
    1. Sleeping immediately after Fajr
    2. After Asr
    3. at the time maghrib

Sleeping at these times will block sustenance and rizq.

Power napping in islam is the sunnah nap after Zuhur. It amazingly coincides with the physiology of our body very well. .

Also, be aware of sleep debt. Sleep is something that cannot be missed, if your avg sleep is for 7 hours and if you sleep for 5 hours in a day, then your body will demand for the extra 2 hours and youl have to give it back to your body as debt.

And brother the 10 - 15 min sleep is only for the ulema and shuyukh, the people of Allah SWT, not for us !
If we power nap for 15 mins, we tend to get more exausted as our body is wide awake and we are trying to shut it down.

    To sleep on time -
    1. Avoid coffee/tea atleast 6 hours before bedtime
    2 Avoid Fat, spicy food.
    3. Drink milk before bed (known to be sleep inducing)
    4. Do not read, work or talk on bed. Bed should be = sleep. (adjust your subsconcious mind to this)
    5. Sleep on your right, stay still, breath in and out, slow and long and then recite the kalima.. youl fall asleep.

    Hope that helped.

    Wa alykum asalam

I must admit that I do often sleep again after Fajr, especially with sunrise being so early from April onwards.

I find the best time to nap is after lunch, whether that be before or after Dhuhr. I'm trying not to nap though, since I'm inpatient at the minute with anorexia and there's not much to do... so I'm trying to ensure that I get enough sleep at night and can actually fall asleep, too.

Also, apparently, peanut butter and banana sandwiches / toast is supposed to induce sleep? I couldn't be doing with that combo myself it's a hot, unsweetened soya milk for me, thanks!

They do say though, that everybody is individual (obviously) and sleep quality is more important than quantity (meaning the number of hours). I normally get about 6½ hours, but I'm aiming for 8 at the minute, which is why I'm trying to stop napping in the early afternoons.

ashadu en la ilaha, il allahu wahdu wa sharika lahu, wa ashadu anna muhammadan abduho wa rasuluh.
i was drawn to this beautiful religion at the age of eleven, and proudly recited my shahadah at the age of thirteen. i'm now seventeen years old :-)

    Asalam Alykum wrwb,

Brother Gabriel, youd know better than me. I am the wrong guy when it comes to quoting hadith but what I remember is that there is a lecture of Shaykh Hussain Abdul Sattar saheb about how a muslim should plan his day and he gives a detailed account of what should be done and what particular time, he mentioned that sleeping at noon is sunnah. But I could be making a grave mistake too, Can any brothers quote any hadith concerning this?

Brother msmirza, yes its true. Many scholars agree to this.
