aslaamalaikum (i can never get the spelling right)
you know them regulars you get at the mosque? who have great knowledge, have the muslim dress code, know their stuff, can preach abit etc
well after doing some thinking id like to be somewhat like this.
as iv started going to my local mosque regular (inshallah i shall try my best to keep it up). the mosque itself is a fair size and is currently getting extended.
the amount of people who turn for jamath is not great. less than one row. (but when its jummuah the mosque is pretty full, especially during holidays) (also, the numbers are increasing for jamath)
so the point im getting at the reputation of the mosque isnt huge (but is slowly increasing) and i want help build it. if you know what i mean?
because the regulars who go there are not exactly your average pious person with a beard, wearing thobes etc. and the imam himself i dont think speaks english greatly (manly urdu). and i dont think he is a sheik or anything.
so i want to start of learning about fiqh, attempt to improve my arabic + tajweed and all the usual...
so im asking what should i learn and where to start ? (if you could provide a checklist of something)
what books do you recommend reading
the reason why i want to do this is so in the future i can maybe give back to the community by teaching kids etc at the mosque, help build its rep , help offer other classes which is in my capability and be part of the mosque
the imam himself asked me if i could come regular to give athan and iqamah (however i cant do so due to colllege + other sports i do).
i think this can be a great boost for my iman
