thanks. i think i may end up taking classes somewhere...but i may start of reading a book to have a head start (which i currently have). also, may ask the imam at my local mosque to help with my tajweed

may i ask how these online academys work? and thanks for the links, much appreciated
I think Cordoba gives you the arabic files and their translations, then you have to go to a specific website for the audio lesson I believe. And some courses give you ijaazah if you attend all classes on time, and get flourishing understanding of the texts, but this don't make no one a scholar though.

SeekersGuidance gives you the arabic and english, has picture diagrams for some concepts, and audio lessons <--- you get to keep them forever once you complete the course - so before the course ends be sure to download all material because after the course ends you can't. There will be 3 or odd live video help available or otherwise there is a place on seekersguidance website where you can go and ask the question or help answer some questions. 12 weeks, they show you that by certain date you should be able to complete such and such lesson so that you can finish with ease the course otherwise you'll have to do more than one lesson a day etc,. if you keep everything for the last.

At the end of each lesson there is a quiz, you can take it two times I think.

Don't know about SunniPath. Never took a course however they have pretty good courses and teachers at the moment as well.
