No difficulty at all. It's my pleasure to help someone who is interested in seeking knowledge.

The costs, if you are planning to come alone and stay in the hostel and eat hostel food is very little. You may incur 2-3 thousand rupees a month at the most. However if you want to come with family and rent a house outside, you can get permission to do so. You might incur a cost of about 8-10 thousand rupees per month, depending on the type of house you want and all that. Women can also study in madaaris nearby, though I'm not sure about day scholars, there are residential madaaris for women.

One's level of knowledge after completing his Aalim course depends entirely on the efforts he puts in when he's here. Ideally, he is able to study anything he wants on his own after completing this course.

Tasawwuf is not taught, but like I mentioned previously, it is up to you how you spend your extra curricular time. You can spend it with an Aalim or a Soufi or someone who is both. May Allah bless you and make it easy for you to benefit from these scholars and extend their shadows over us all.

Brother raashid20, with regards to studying there I am a British citizen but have a Pakistani identity card. I'm also in my 30s.

Would I be able to get a visa to study there? Would I be able to board inside the dar al uloom?

    Thank you.

    و عليكم السلام

Regarding the visa, I think it's better you ask a travel agent or at the Indian Embassy. However, I do know many students who came to India from the UK, like Mufti Ismail Bhayat who is a Mufti in Moulana Saleem Dhorat sb's Madrasa, and they stayed here for a couple of years, so I guess it should not be a problem. I am not aware if the identity card can play a spoilsport. You might want to do some research before coming.

Age is not at all an issue.

If you come on a visa to study at Nadwa, I do not believe boarding would be a problem. However most foreigners prefer to stay outside on rent.

I'm an Afghan whose an American citizen. Does India give Americans visas for studying at Madrasas, as I believe Pakistan doesn't allow it any longer.

    Waaleykum'Assalaam

Getting visa to study Deen in Nadwa or Darul Uloom, Deoband might turn out to be an issue for those having British citizenship. Last month one Brit brother from this forum was refused visa because Indian Embassy in Britain didn't recognize either of these univeristies (Nadwa or Darul Uloom) as fully accredited universities.

Yes, I guess Student Visa can be difficult for people of non-Indian origin. The alternative would be to get a Tourist Visa, but since that is only given for a maximum of 6 months, you might have to leave and return again, every 6 months.

    Assalaam'aaleykum!

Right, tourist visa is the only option left for those coming to India for 'ilm. Or else if the seeker has any eligible relative sponsor, who could offer sponsorship for residency in India, then that might also work out for him.

BTW, are you from India, Raashid bhai?

    Salam

with respect, you come to study for the sake of allah, renounce evil, yet you are deceiving the govt./authorities bygetting a tourist visa for "studying"....how can the inention be considered sincere if one resorts to deception. i don't mean to offend anyone.

don't we have to draw a line between deception vs. sincerity and honesty.... if you're going in the path of allah to eliminate your life of evil, then isn't it setting a bad precedent by deceiving people about your intention to study?
