don't we have to draw a line between deception vs. sincerity and honesty.... if you're going in the path of allah to eliminate your life of evil, then isn't it setting a bad precedent by deceiving people about your intention to study?
I don't think so at all. Why do you want to confine the meaning of tourism to an entertainment trip? Just Google the types of tourisms and you'll be shocked. Tourism includes any trip that is not for the purpose of permanent residence or occupation. Now if they do not want to recognize you as a student, then they will not have any problem recognizing you as a tourist. And for visa purposes, if you are not staying for more than 6 months and not carrying on any business, you are a tourist.

And even from an Islamic perspective, the Prophet (SAWS) said: الجهاد سياحة المسلم, which means that Struggle in the path of Allah is the Tourism of a Muslim. I believe this is also the Hadith based on which the Tabligh elders allow the traveling in Jama'ath with a Tourist Visa. So until countries start issuing separate Path of Allah visas, this is what we're going to have to do, brother. No question of deception.

    Assalamu 'Alaikum Br. Rashid,

Is there any focus on studying taa'reekh while at Nadwa?

    Jazakallahu Khair.

I am actually seeking to study at Nadwa within the next 2-3 years. I have a good standing in Nahw and Sarf, am fluent in fusha arabic, studied a decent amount of tarjamah and uloom ul-Quran. I am currently studying some preliminary mutoon of Hanafi fiqh and making my way to studying Qudoori. Ideally speaking, I would like to spend 3 years at Nadwa.

With my background would it be possible to test of the first 2 years?

Rashid bhai, I'd love to stay in contact with you via e-mail. My e-mail address is nihalk1 at gmail dot com.

Is it true the aqeedah of the ulemah vary at Darul Uloom Nadwah? Also apparently some are not as stringent on fist length beard I heard? (like Shaykh Akram Nadwi on both issues).

Other great scholars also visit from time to time.

They have a 5 yr condensed Aalim course for college grads, which I did, but considering that you will be knowing Arabic, you could probably join the 3rd yr, after giving a test.

ASSALAMu'aleykum, I want to know more information about the 5 years aalim course at nadwa, maybe I can try to meet you if you are in india.

    waSSALAMu'aleykum.
