Default Is there a Gremlin in the Forum?

    is SF going wrong?

i've seen a couple of times now posts that seem to be written by people other than the person it is attributed to.
ie. it is obvious that the person writing the post is not the person whose name appears above it.

the last post in this thread "Pray behind a Traveller" is an example.
it is obvious that 'layman' has posted the last post, but the post has been attributed to 'eTeacher'.
    highly confusing.

and this is not the first time that it has happened.

    what is going on?
    Alhamdulillah ala kulli haal

yeah i think that you may be wrong as you admit.
eTeacher does have a nice sense of humour but i've also seen the 'wrong post attribution' thingy happen with others too so i don't think it's just him.

PLUS (the reason for adding to this Thread)...

yesterday i noticed that a Thread i started months ago in the brothers forum has now come back to the top of the brothers forum as if someone bumped it up. But the strange thing is, no one bumped it up - the last poster on that Thread is me, and that last post of mine is the first and only post of the Thread!
Even stranger is the fact that the post time of my post on that Thread shows yesterdays date (which is obviously wrong as i started it months ago) and the time is even more strange - it says around 9pm, whereas i was out with my friend at that time in the sports centre!

And by coincidence an even older Thread was also at the top of the brothers forum last posted on by Goldi. But the date of his post is 2004! So why is it near the top? [btw, my Thread view is from latest Thread to oldest Thread so it's not a mistake at my end].

So it looks as if these Threads were manipulated in some way - what other reason is there?

    *thinks*

Sunniforum database is mashed? [i hope not]

Moderators are able to bump threads. As an example, check the Sunniforum.com Rules thread in the Announcements forum, I've just bumped that, and so it says the last poster posted today at 09:04 pm and is now also listed under 'Newest Replies'.

Thanks for that explanation. It all makes sense now.
However, how can we find out which Mod bumped which Threads?

And, can any Mod/Admin answer my first query at the top of this Thread?

    Jazakallah khayr.

[i'm just naturally curious about things - i have no gripes with SF]

I don't think members can find out, unless the moderator mentions it himself/herself. But Moderators/Admin are able to find out who bumped which threads.

I think that was really Maulana Nazim's famous sense of humour. But, umm, Maulana can confirm that...
