He is lean, fair, tall and always in Zikr. Tapping away or Darbing away. He cant stop his Darbs even in Majlis. I was going to hit him on the head to stop him because everyone was looking at him

please enough of this rubbish. I know my own reality and how much of a sinner I am. ALLAH has been kind and covered me with his quality of Sattar. We are in the process of uploading the various zikr majlises and talks in both english and urdu with tamil translation. I shall submit a short karguzari in the following post but my karguzari cannot be used as a reference in anyway and any shortcomings should be attributed to myself. Ahlezikr shall give a detailed karguzari which will be more beneficial in the very near future inshallah.

I shall write something in no particular order but here it goes;

It was a very very strange and great experience. I just wish more of our sunniforum members were there.
I arrived at the airport on tuesday at 330am. The sri lankans were very professional. I was surprised to see such professionalism. I also saw many arab tourists and was surprised. Anyway I was collected by refai and nifal saab. I recognized refai instantly as his face is full of noor mashallah and he had long zulfah. We went in a 3 weeler rikshaw and prayed fajr at a masjid. I left my quraan there ( I always seem to lose my pocket quraans everywhere in many different places). When I arrived hazrat ajmeri db was sleeping. After a few hours I woke up and met hazrat ajmeri db. He had a very very laid back style. Was telling the guys to give me food etc. Anyway all the days were the same. We would travel to different cities/towns and hazrat ajmeri db would give bayans, hold zikr of nafi wal isbaat (Laillahaillah), zikr of isme zaat (ALLAH), 40 durood (salawat) majlis etc.

We would usually stay at a locality for 24 hours. We would hold bayans (talks) in 2-3 different masjids and the rest of the time there would be majlises (spiritual rectification gatherings) at the house of our host. We would have zikr and taleem as well as a question and answer session. We did however hold 2 zikr majlises (gatherings) in a masjid. 1 was at a daruloom and the other was at an islamic centre opposite a local masjid. Apart from this all zikr majlises were held at the house of our host.

We initially travelled each day using a 3 weeler rikshaw but thereafter due to the long distance we travelled by van.


Hazrat gave very high ilmi (indepth knowledge) bayans (talks) linked with quraan ayahs (verses). He had to simplify them for awaam (the general masses) but they were of a very high level. Mostly full of quranic ayahs and rare wisdom. We have got them recorded with the zikr and inshallah shall send them to you. You will love them inshallah

We had a lot of informal time with hazrat. In his informal time hazrat would read from his personal diary, shariat wa taswuff by maulana masihullah khan, books by mufti iftikar ul hasan khandelvi db etc. He would answer any questions or mention various things. I shall list some points below;

1. Hazrat said mufti ifitikar ul hasan db said that people can benefit most from 3 mazhars (graves). The mazhar of mujadid alf thani, mazhar of shaykh sabir kalyari and mazhar of mianji noor muhammad rh. Hazrat said maulana madni said that the spiritual kingdom of hindustan is at jinjawa. he said that like how Delhi is the parliament of India in worldy matters Jhanjhawa is the parliament in spiritual matters. See hazrat said hazrat mujadid alf thani rh only give fuyooz to select people who come to the mazhar but mianji noor muhammad rh gives to everyone. Hazrat Asad Madni rh used to send some mureeds for chilla to the grave of mianji noor muhammad rh.

2. Hazrat read something from the book by mufti iftikar. It is an incident where hazrat mahmoud ajmeri db is mentioned. Hazrat ajmeri went to visit his shaykh and mufti iftikar asked hazrat ajmeri db if he had visited the graveyard at khandala before he came. Hazrat ajmeri db said nope. Hazrat mufti iftikar said that mualana ilyas rh said that whatever he achieved was via the means of the graveyard of khandala. Hazrat mentioned 2 khulafah of hazrat gangohi rh are buried there.

3. Hazrat told me that his high ilmi bayans come through his nisbat (connection) to maulana qasim nanotwi rh. He said maulana nantowi's works are so high that hazrat cannot understand them. He told me his sister is married to the son of qari muhammad tayib sahib the grandson of maulana nanotwi rh. Hazrat told me he is related to the many akabir. like maulana khalil ahmed, maulana gangohi, nanotwi, shaykh zakariayh, mufti mahmood ul hasan etc.

4. hazrat told me his father the khalifah of maulana thanvi rh and shah wasiullah rh he would finish 3 khatams (complete recitals) of quraan a week, read surah ikhlaas 1000 times daily and ALLAH knows best what else. When his father passed away some shaykh was told to perform his janazah by Rasulullah salalhuwaslam.

5. Hazrat was once at a tablighi ijtimah and maulana inam ul hasan rh called him. Hazrat went to him and checked his health as hazrat inam was ill. Hazrat ajmeri db asked do you have high temperature due to habs e dam or pas anfaas (some form of zikr). Hazrat inam said nope i dont do such things now. All that is left is the 100k isme zaat (ALLAH) that maulana ilyas rh gave me which i recite daily.

6. Hazrat said that maulana masihullah khan rh loved him a lot. He said at tahajud time hazrat masihullah would lean on the pillow from one side and read quraan and hazrat ajmeri db would lean on pillow from other side and read quraan. Hazrat masihullah rh would say some high things about hazrat ajmeri db and wack him and say what this buddah (old man) is saying you will remember and it will come true.

7. He said that he never understood why mufti mahmood ul hasan gangohi rh gave him khilafat. Only last few years he understood

8. He mentioned some shaykh made some prediction that he shall travel the world and spread silsila. Only now it is becoming reality.

It was an ajeeb (strange) safar. Hazrat interpreted some dream of I think shaykh ul hadeeth maulana zakariya rh by someone playing criket. The dream was something like we are both the batting and bowling side. Hazrat said the batting and bowling side refers to umoor e takweeni and tashreeehi and both shall spread in sri lanka via hazrat or something to this efffect
Hazrat said imam hassan al banna was mujaddid of last century. Hazrat said there are multiple mujadids. i.e. for each field, place etc.

We met maulana ismail db and he was an ajeeb buzrug who accompanied us for a few days. He was doing muraqabah when hazrat was asleep. Hazrat said that maulana ismail managed to absorb everything. Hazrat ismail had ajeeb tawudhu (humility) and love for sunnah and shariah. He slept next to me.

What else can be said? There is too much to relate. Hazrat was giving bayan at markaz and some saudi scholars had come markaz. They then invited us for a meal. One of them was from the descendents of shaykh muhammad ibn abdul wahab.

Sri lanka is an amazing country. Amazing people. The non-muslims have good heart and respectful of muslims. The masjids are full and many tablighis who all spend a lot of time like 4 months per year. I was amazed that these very poor people who dont own cars and have little dunya have been to so many countries spreading deen. Each person I spoke to had been to many 4 months and to many countries. Their familiies are full of ulema and huffaz and their attention is to akirah. They gave ajeeb hospitality. The manners of the sri lankans is really amazing. You don't hear people raising their voice or arguing or fighting. People are very calm. Hazrat ajmeri db joked maybe someone slaps another person every 10 years here. I realized and appreciated the work of our tabligh brothers more after coming to sri lanka. Before the effort of tabligh there were 1000 masjids in sri lanka but due to the blessings of tabligh there are now 2000 more masjids.


This is all the sinner can remember now. The zikr majlises and bayans have been recorded. Hazrat talked in both urdu and english. I can safely say that the bayans (talks) are mostly ilhami (divinly inspired) even hazrat mentioned this that he even does not know what he says. I had an informal relationship with hazrat. He asked me to meet him again very soon inshallah and we shall have some intense schedule. Anyway what can be said? I'm a weak guy just make dua for me.

Some random points I remember I shall list them inshallah;

Hazrat Mahmoud Ajmeri mentioned that he is the personal hakeem (hazrat ajmeri practices unnani medicine) of maulana Saad the amir of tabligh. He said that he told maulana Saad to eat breakfast as Maulana Saad has so much concern for the ummah that he does not even get time to eat breakfast. Maulana Saad told him that what can he do as he is very busy. Hazrat ajmeri db told us that maulana Saad is always full of concern. Whenever he meets him he is always in a state of worry for the ummah.

Hazrat mahmoud ajmeri db mentioned that his shaykh Mufti Mahmood ul hasan gangohi rh used to read between 30-40 juz of quraan daily. I asked him weather this was inside or outside ramadan. He said both times he would read between 30-40 juz of quraan daily.
