They must be deep into tabligh because this type of lofty hospitality I have found in either Afghans or tablighi people, very heavy into khidmah. Not to say others are not, but you will find more so of this in the tablighis and especially those who have closer connection to Shaikh Zakariyyah (ra) you will find they are like totally open hearted almost to the extent of giving you kurta off his back if you need it.

I am listening to the Hakeem Sahabs bayaans now, masha'Allah good stuff.

(You could have included the incident of arrival of Professor Abdul aleem Sahab (DB) into the chamber-I do not have the guts to do that!)
It was a blessing to spend those moments with you people-and in that environment.

to both of you for your kind words.
To me that little kid secret was a secret really and I would not have got it myself. for that too. And that thing about boredom too is on the spot. I never enjoyed those calculations of income tax and increments and bonus in the Staff Room so I am here (and there at Anona House) in the company that I love, enjoy and feel honoured and blessed with. Once you are with Allah (SWT) and his friends then none compares with that (Ab meri nigahoN maiN jaNchta nahiN koi !) I also feel honoured with the comparison with Ashrafia. I never deserved (MaiN to is qabil na tha.) That blogger Shaikh there is extremely kind to this sinner. Damatbarkatuhum. Finally recruiting (tashkeel) Dr76 for blog is another idea on the dot and it had occurred to this sinner only after returning from Delhi-but I'll not pollute this delicious thread with the things that sound more of work than spirituality (roohaniat).

Judging from the fruit that fell off the tree, I would not doubt it.

A most amazing thread. There should be more threads like this with karguzaris and stories related by those who are fortunate to gain the company of such buzurgs. I feel so deprived

My first contact with Hakeem Ajmeri sahib db was back a few months ago. Someone told me about him kept going on and on but that person was hesitant to call him. I did cold call, you know how I am, no manners of Darbar.

We speak for 20 minutes long story short his advice was "from the age of 14-15 make up any salaah you have missed." Also he gave advice to recite some portion of the Quran daily as part of ones daily routine and schedule.

Question to all the brothers who contributed to this thread (especially brother ahlezikr, London786, dr76, nayyarsh, Maripat and Fusus): Can you give some guidelines how to have a nice conversation with big-time Shuyukhs? I would love to benefit from such Ahlullah but often due to some shyness I'm never sure how much to tell about myself and what to talk with them about. So, I most of the time sit in silence. I guess I need to get rid of that shyness.

“A moment spent in the company of Saints is better than a hundred years of (voluntary) worship.” Hazrat Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi .

    11-07-11

    04:30 pm

Meeting Hazrat Hafizji Muhammed Yousuf saheb Tandawi db.

Hafiz Alimuddin saheb db is a khalifa of my sheikh and also has khilafat from hazrat hafizji yousuf sb db. He has a lot of affection for me. He arrived at evening with the news to my sheikh that hazrat hafizji saheb db was ill and if he permits he would take dr sahab (myself) with him.. my sheikh couldn’t refuse… he had been at markaz nizamuddin for many decades and chosen to stay at his home town Tanda since past few years due to age and building responsibilities at his madrassa.

Hazrat Hafizji sahab was aged over 95 yrs and was trained under Hazrat Munshi Allah datta saheb (rah) Khalifa of Shaikhul Islam Hazrat Maulana Syed Hussain Ahmed Madani saheb (rah) who also had granted him Khilafat.

Hazrat Munshi Allah data saheb (rah) was a sahib e kashf o karamat buzurg.. he held the position that my sheikh db occupies now.. ie, incharge of sending jamaats all over india. According to Maulana Ilyas Qasmi sb ( hafiji’s son) once Hazratji Maulana Inamul Hassan saheb got affected with sihr.. Munshi saheb was counselled.. he told hazratji that he can see the sahir reading inside a cave on a particular mountain.. and if he permits the sahir shall be killed within two minutes.. hazratji (rah) forbade him from doing any such thing..

It seems once while making wudhu he suddenly uttered “ gai bhi gayi .. bachda bhi gaya..” ( the cow left along with her calf) and the news of indira gandhi’s assassination spread out.. he was known to be a takweeni.

We left markaz after maghrib.. the journey would take 4 hrs to reach tanda via baghpat and baraut.. we planned to halt at bagpat..

Our hafiz saheb had some 300 mureedin at baghpat and there was a ceremonial welcome when we alighted from the bus.. it was around 11pm.. we retired at a nearby masjid to begin our journey after fajr..

This lesser known town lies in the far end of UP on the western side.. aside which runs the river Yamuna.. and on the opposite bank begins the state of Haryana..

Hazrat Hafizji db has set up a madrassa here since 1957 that has been frequented by ulema and mashaikh of the time.. we reached there at 8 am and waited with Maulana Ilyas Qasmi sb his son.. he had many interesting tales..
said that his father also has khilafat from Hazrat Maulana Iftikharul Hassan Kandhelvi sb db and also from Hazrat Maulana ubaidullah balyawi sb (rah) the Khalifa of Hazrat Shaikh Nawwar Allahu marqadahu..

Hafizji db, i learnt was also a practicing amil and sahib e kashf buzurg.. we met him at last.. he had an ajeeb noorani face.. thick white beard.. long face with sharp features.. just when we were about to talk.. a patient came in.. he had only begun with ‘ hazrat my daughter.’. and he halted him.. stop.. don’t open ur mouth.. he quickly wrote a taweez on paper and asked him to leave..

he spoke about his early days at thana bhavan where he studied.. a time when hazrat hakeem ul Ummat (rah) was alive..and the mashaikh of old..
said that there is not a place where the sun sets that he has not set foot for the sake of tableegh.. his age was clearly showing up and his forehead a witness to the hundreds of sujood made before his merciful lord..

he seemed well .. I dint find anything wrong for his age.. he called Maulana ilyas saheb and another person to make wudhu.. laid a piece of cloth and ordered both to hold it firm .. he then gave khilafat to both of them.. it seems he was quite miserly in giving khilafat and his son only received after so many years when my shaikh recommended that he be made the janasheen..

well it was getting late and I had to reach delhi for yet another appointment late that day.. I requested leave..

Hazrat Hakeem Mahmood Ajmeri sahab db had already arrived in delhi last night…and we had lotts to talk about..

    Wa assalam..

    Contd…

I guess I need to get rid of that shyness.
For me its a bit different because from childhood I have been without any hesitation or shyness. My first contact with a shaikh was when I was between 5-6. There was a big shaikh in Hyderabad, the guy had thousands of mureeds and always several chumchas (spoons) served as body guards, we all know how chumchas are. I had reoccuring dreams of a ghostly white face white beard old man who would blow flour on my face. So this shaikh was in the same place I was and I saw my opportunity to approach him and get rid of this problem once and for all. The shaikh was leaving out after his bayaan and was surrounded by several chumchas, these chumchas formed a circle around the shaikh so no one can get close. I was small boy so I just snuck in between the chumchas and approached to the shaikh pulling on his thobe. The shaikh stops looks to me and says, "Hello boy, who are you?" I say to the shaikh, "Moulana, I am troubled by reoccuring dreams of a white ghostly figure who blows flour on my face and this causes me to wake up crying and call for my mom and dad." The shaikh and the chumchas laugh but the shaikh stopped his movement and stood reading something and then blew on me and said, "Ok now you shouldnt have this dream anymore." All the chumchas laughed. I dont know what he read but afterwards the dreams stopped.

So for me its a bit different, I naturally dont have shyness nor hesitation, I can approach anyone and I am not afraid to be scolded nor told off. I would say that approaching ulama and mashaikh is like approaching a doctor when you are sick. It doesnt make sense to be shy and hesitate knowing that such and such doctor has some major cures for you and can cure you easily and quickly.

Personally, I like to get in touch with the old white beards. They are a bit harder to crack because they are usually at an age where they seen it all experienced it all they are done. They dont want to be bothered at their age 80+. If you are bothering them be very direct, dont beat around the bush. These guys dont have time and they dont really care to play games. You call and say salaam and say who you are where you are from and why you called. Then depending on the mood of the person you can open up a bit but always watch your words think first and then open your mouth because they will take you to task on your words.

When calling the Hazrat Hakeem Ajmeri sahib I said, "Hazrat I request you make dua for my sulook." He caught me on this right away. He said, "excuse me, you have used a very specific terminology, sulook. What is sulook can you tell me?" I said, "Hazrat, you know better than I what is sulook." And then he asked for who I am bayt to and in what silsilah and such. When he heard the name Hazrat Jalalabadi Moulana Masihullah Khan Sherwani ra he became excited and happy his mood changed.

But see this is one type of person. I said the same to Moulana Mumtazul Haq sahib db khalifah to Hazrat Hakeem Akhtar sahib db and I approached him at a big seerat program and he was sitting on the stage like a lion and I just approached him I was standing for a bit and he was eyeing me some guy was having a convo with him. As soon as I saw a gap in the convo I approached and I just said quietly to him, "I am talib of islah, make dua for me." So this shaikh stands up and loudly he says, "May Allah swt give you kaamil eeman and give you eeman of awliyah siddiqeen" etc etc and he went on and on with the dua for a bit. It caused a bit of a scene but it was well worth it.

So they are all different, it just depends. Remember that the person who moves forward Allah swt moves him forward and the person who lags behind he lags behind.

Most generous of mankind, I have no one to take refuge in,
Except you at the occurrence of widespread calamity.
