    Summary of Dora e tafsir - Day 2

    The Qur'an mentions that Prophet Sulaiman (as) had Humans, Jinns and Animals in his army.
    وَحُشِرَ لِسْلَيْمَـنَ جُنُودُهُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ وَالإِنْس وَالطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ
    so its show about 3 type of army neavy,army and airforce,

    We realise from the verse يَا أَيُّهَا النَّمْلُ ادْخُلُوا مَسَاكِنَكُمْ that the any Prophet (alaihimus salaam) did not have knowledge of the unseen (unless told by Allah (swt), rather they did not even know what was beneath their feet

    Ali (ra) narrates that 4 persons have ruled over the entire world; 2 believers and 2 non-believers.
    Muslims - Sikandar Dhulqarnain and Sulaiman (as)
    Non-Muslims - Namrood and Bukhte Nasar
    (Tafseer ibn-Katheer)

    Imam Qurtubi (rh) writes under the verse و كلم الله موسي تكليما that there are 2 opinions about the number of Prophets (alaihimus salaam);
    a) 264,000
    b) 124,000 (this is the stronger opinion)

    Prophet Ayyub (as) was the son-in-law of Prophet yusuf (as)

    There has been an occasion when 145 Prophets were present in this world at 1 time.

    There have been 14/15 Prophets which have stayed in Indian subcontinent, amongst which 2 were Gul and Khan

    There are 3 books which are very good reference with regards to Animals;

    1) Al-Hayawaan - Allamah Jahiz (rh)
    2) Ajaa'ibul Makhluqaat - Allamah Kirmani (rh)
    3) Ghara'ibul Makhluqaat - Allamah Suyuti (rh)

    However the best book written on this topic is Hayaatul Hayawaan by Allamah Damiri (rh) as not only was he a big muhaddith but was a big mufassir aswell. Mufti sb has seen the tafseer written by him named Ahkaamul Qur'an in 30 vols.

    Khalid ibn al-Waleed had 40 sons martyered in 1 battle, and Luqman had 100 sons die at once.

    The timespan between Adam (as) and Nooh (as), only societal laws were revealed (eating, farming, etc).Allah then revealed Shar'i Ahkaam at the time of Nooh (as)

    We will cover 15 juz this year in Daurah-e-Tafseer and the remaining 15 juz will be covered next year i.a.

    Mujahid (rh) read tafseer with his teacher Abdullah ibn Abbas 30 times. This is why Imam Bukhari (ra) often quotes from him, قال مجاحد...

    Maulana Badr Aalam (rh) read Sahih al-Bukhari 6 times with Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri (rh) and then compiled Faidhul Baari

    Estimated;
    Amount of Prophets 125000
    Sahabas 125000
    Narrators of Hadeeth 125000
    Books of Hadeeth 125000

    Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri said in 1933 that upto his time 200000 books on tafseer had been written, and he had seen/read most of them. After him, approx 10000 more books on tafseer have been written.

    Technology is from amongst the knowledge/teachings of the Prophet (saw)

    HudHud knew where there was sweet water whilst he was flying.

    If Sulaiman (as) knew the unseen, he wouldn't have asked the whereabouts of HudHud .
    مَا لِيَ لَا أَرَى الْهُدْهُدَ

    (Thanks to br. Taifah Mansurah for translation)

    Assalam o 'alaykum,

    He mentions that there are three commentators of Sahih al-Bukhari that are 'bigger' than Hafiz Ibn Hajr, 'Allamah 'Ayni, etc. Two of these are Imam Ibn Battal al-Maliki (d. 444H) and 'Allamah Ibn Munayyar al-Iskandari. The third one is a Mu'tazili.

    Summary of Dora e tafsir - Day 3

    Prophet (saw) had 4 statuses/roles as detailed in the verse
    يتلو عليهم اياته ويزكيهم ويعلمهم الكتاب والحكمة
    It is also amazing that this verse is mentioned 4 times in the Qur'an.

    Mir Zahid (rh) was the teacher of Shah Waliulllah (rh)'s father Abdul Raheem

    After reading 2 of Allamah Anwar Shah (rh) books for 35 years, Mufti Zarwali sb has now understood them.

    There have been 4 main big orators (Khateebs) in the indian sub continent,with their some speaciallities:
    1) Maulana Abul Kalaam Aazad
    2) Maulana Ahmad Saeed Dehlawi
    3) Maulana Shabbir Ahmed Uthmani
    4) Allamah Ataullah Shah Bukhari rahimahumullah

    Ibne Munayyir (rh) has written beneficial commentary/notes on Zamakhshari's Kashshaaf, so when you purchase his tafseer, ensure that you buy the one with his notes.

    Ibne Munayyir (rh) is reported to have said "It is imperative that books, especially Hadeeth books are read correctly, so that one may be saved from the Prophets warning
    من كذب علي متعمداً فليتبوأ مقعده من النار
    (Whoever lies on me intentionally then let him prepare an abode for himself in the fire)."
    [ Allamah Aloosi Bagdadi (rh)]

    Imam abu hanifa : الاحتياط في الامور واجبة الا القراءة ( fatawa aalamgiri)
    so, this is hikmah of why imam abu hanifa stopped muktadi to recite quran behindd imam bcoz mostly ppl who r not arbi are making mistakes in qiraat

    Warning on those who relate false dreams..

    Mufti Zarwali sb relates an amazing dream wherin he receives sanad from Allamah Binnori (rh) from his own hands.

    A young student had a dream where he was instructed to attend and study the Daurah-e-Tafseer

    A few examples of تقسير القرآن بالقرآن (Explaining the Qur'an by the Qur'an)

    3 meanings of the word Hikmah حكمة

    1) If linked with the word Qur'aan or Kitaab, then Hasan Basri (rh) and Imam Shafi'i (rh) say they have heard from 200 Sahabas that Hikmah here refers to Sunnah
    2) If linked with Luqman then here it means Wisdom
    3) If linked with Fadl then it is Ibn Abbas (ra)'s opinion that this means Fiqh (daleel - Hadith in Bukhari)

    Dhulqarnain and Luqman were not Prophets.

    Mufti Wali Hasan (rh) said: "The authors of Nurul Idaah, Kanzud Daqaaid, Sharhul Wiqaayah and Hidaayah hold a higher position than Mueenuddeen Chisti and Baba Faridudeen Ganj Shakar"

    Usage of the word Data Ganj Bakhsh and such terms, and their proper and improper use.

    Mention of Sultan Mahmood Ghaznawi (rh)

    Mention of Sayyid Ali Hijrowi and one of his Karaamat

    Good books written on the lives of the Awliyaa' (rh) :

    6) Maktoobat Mujaddid Alf-Thaani مكتوبات مجدد الف ثاني

    Mufti Zarwali sb is currently writing a book on the Awliyaa of Sarhad (one state of pakistan)

    The special characteristics of some Mufassireen (rh)

    Special characteristics of Imam Tahawi (rh)

    Difference between Tafseer and Ta'weel

    Imam Zufar has differed with Imam Abu Haneefah in 16 rulings (mas'alas) and the fatwa of the madhab is given on the ruling of Imam Zufar

    After the Qur'an, books of Hadeeth and books on Hanaf Fiqh, Mufti Zarwali really likes the following 3 kitabs and keeps them close to his pillow;

    Bayaanul Qur'an - Maulana Thanwi
    Badaa'ius Sanaa'i fee Tarteeb al-Sharaa;i - Allamah Kaasaani
    Aqeedatul Islam - Allamah Anwar Shah Kashmiri

    Maulana Thanwi has written 1365 books, 4 of which the scholars of Hind can be proud;

    Bayaanul Qur'an
    Islahe Inqilabe Ummat
    Bawadirun Nawadir
    AlTakashshuf an Muhimmatit Tasawwuf

    Maulana Abdul Majid Dariyabadi made a few mistakes regarding Mirzaaiyyat

    Mention of Maulana Ghulamullah Khan and his tafseer Jawaahirul Qur'an

    (Thanks to br. Taifah Mansurah for translation)

    A short biography taken from ahsan al-burhan, part two:

    He was born around 1953 in Jahangira. It was not the habit people to pay attention to the day or month when one was born. His fathers name was Muhammad Aqil and his grandfathers name was Umar Din. His mother had studied the curriculum which was present in Jamia Masjid Khankhel for 12 years under Mawlana Fazle Ali. She would test her sons in qur’anic recitation and correct them if she heard a mistake. She would mention about Mawlana Lutfullah and Mawlana Abd al-Hanan that they are “deoband paas.”

    Mufti Zarwali studied under Mawlana Ihsanul Haq (also known as Haq Sahib) who was the son of Mawlana Fazle Haq. He like his father was a master in all Islamic sciences. Like his father he had mastery of the Persian language. Mufti Zarwali studied under him parts of the Qur’an with translation. He studied with him the famous Persian book “panj ganj,” in fiqh “Khulasat Maydani” and first part of “Quduri.” Ml. Ihsanul Haq had an elder sister who was not married and studied the sciences under her father too. This sister would memorize the khutbaat to her brother Ml. Ihsanul Haq. The mother of Mufti Zarwali stated that only if this daughter was a man then she would have become a real successor for the people.

    Mufti studied under Ml. Abd al-Latif “nur al-idah” until zillat al-qari before he got sick and died. Ml. Abd al-Latif studied in India in madrasa rahmaniyya in Dehli. Ml. was a master in fiqh and ilm al-fara’id (inheritance issues). Both Ml. Abd al-Latif and Ml. Abd al-Hanan had met each other in India.

    He studied under Ml. Abdul Hanan (proud of Sarhad) who himself studied in Deoband under Ml. Husain Ahmad Madni between 1934 and 1935 and did dawra hadith there. Was in some classes with Ml. Abdul Haq (founder of Darul Uloom Haqqania). Even though he never was a specific teacher in a madrasa, he had mastery in every book and would teach every book which he was asked to do so. Had close contacts with Ml. Ghulam Ghawth Hazarwi and Mufti Mahmood. Mufti studied under Ml. Abdul Hanan 3 years. Nahw, mantiq and two times qur’an translation. In Persian he studied Gulistan of sh. Sadi. Studied also Kaafiya, Fusool Akbari, Shaafiya, in mantiq “tahdhib” and “badi’ al-mizan.” In fiqh “sharh al-wiqaya.” In adab “mufid al-talibin” and thereafter “tuhftat al-yaman.” However he was advised by Ml. Abdul Hanan to go to Ml. Lutfullah in order to study adab because he is an Imam in this field.

    He studied tuhfat al-yaman under Ml. Lutfullah and also tuhfat al-arab by ml. Izaz Ali. Finished under him Kaafiya, Sharh Wiqaya, in ilm ma’ani he studied “samadiya.” Also “kifayat al-mutahaffuz” and “al-tarif al-adib al-zarif” and “maqamaat,”

    Ml. Lutfullah was a special student of Ml. Shah Anwar Kashmiri. Did dowra in 1927 under him and came on first position in every book. He was 1 year ahead of Ml. Yusuf Binnori and remained also close friends during their return. Mufti Zarwali then went to Jamia Islamiya Binnori Town and met Ml. Binnori earlier with Ml. Lutfullah who already talked to him to give him entry.

    Upon visting the madrasa a test was given and he was asked by Ml. Muhammad Sawati (who graduated from mazahir ulum and Deoband) to explain a quote in “Kaafiya.” Mufti sahib had memorized kaafiya and explained it together with reciting some poetry. He was asked who had him taught kaafiya and he named Ml. Lutfullah about which Ml. Muhammad Sawati said that he was his teacher too under which he did takhassus in hadith. Out of respect for his teacher he did not test him anymore. Mufti Sahib graduated eventually from Jamia Islamiya. Ml. Yusuf Binnori died in the year where he was doing dowra, so Mufti Wali Hasan taught the remaining lessons.
    And if he were to ask for a gentle lady in marriage, he would be refused, and when he leaves the world it does not miss him, and if he goes out, his going out is not noticed, and if he falls sick, he is not attended to, and if he dies, he is not accompanied to his grave.
