Default The Light of Guidance: Tawassul Discussion

As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu dear brothers and sisters in Islam,

I had noticed one of the hot topics on this forum was regarding the subject of tawassul and what is taught in AlMaghrib regarding this topic.

As I have taken the class, let me mention a few points:

    1. The Shaykh did not simply label every person who seeks tawassul through the Prophet (SAW) as committing shirk.
    2. All actions under discussion for this class that he mentioned that were not from our religion could have fallen under major shirk, minor shirk, or bid'ah.
    3. Where there was a legitimate difference of opinion, it was pointed out and acknowledged by the shaykh. He would then state his opinion.

The Shaykh pointed out that there is a difference of opinion regarding whether the dead can hear us in the grave. He also let us know that he favored the opinion that they cannot.

Furthermore, his position on Tawassul, according to my notes, is that if the intent of the person was that they are asking the Prophet (SAW) to make du'a to Allah (SWT) on their behalf, he considered it a bid'ah, NOT SHIRK, as he did not feel there were any authentic narrations showing that the Companions made Tawassul through the Prophet (SAW) after his death.

Jazakallah khayr for reading, may Allah (SWT) reward you for your diligent efforts to become better Muslims.

    Siraaj

Well, I simply wanted to clarify what was taught in the class vs the reflection of one student whose entry in a blog regarding this matter was posted in another thread.

Of course, I myself am one such student, so I hope that ultimately, insha'Allah, those who wish to take this knowledge with certainty will have the curiosity to seek that answer from the Shaykh himself. Access is very easy to him on the Light of Guidance forums.

Rep points were decided against due to the pride and associated problems that can crop up with them.

Apparently he believes that the Mushrikeen never make shirk in the sifat of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala? That they do not (for example) believe that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has made tafweedh (delegation) of some His sifat so one of the partners of Allah (according to their belief) is invoked for rain and another is invoked for giving children?

I have a nice article on this Bro Sadiq gave me-I'll be sure to post it up soon Insh'Allah.

It'll prove how post 1 is pure nonsense.

Bro Faqir's posted it already: http://www.sunniforum.com/forum/show...1#postid=55451

    asalamualykum

i also took the LOG class

u can see my notes here: http://www.mujahideenryder.net/notes/alm/log

i agree with about 90% of the class, the 10% is the issue of the tawassul and mawlid, and that ashari and maturidi are diviant...which shocked me
