Salam
so i know that according to hanafis the fisabilillah clause for zakat refers to jihad only however:
1. is it true that imam shafi allowed this "fisabilillah to mean anything done for allah's sake (i.e. mosques etc.), and is this the official verdict in the shafi madhab that one can give zakat to any owrthy cause? references?
2. did the famous imams of the hanafi madhab also concur with imam shafi namely, Imam Muhammad Ashaybani and Qadi Abu Yusuf. that is did they disagree with imam abu hanifa that fi sabilillah is not restricted to jihad? references?
i would really like a response because a shaykh in my locality is telling the hanafis that according to their sources (i.e. the two imams mentioned) they are allowed to give their zakat pretty much anywhere...yes i'm aware that this is not the hanafi position, but was it the position of the aforementioned imams.
3. the imam also said that there's basically a concensus that zakat can be given to mosques, madrassas, peace tv, etc. cos all of these are fi sabilillah. has there ever been any such consensus?
i would greatly appreciate a response just so that i know the facts of the matter with clarity for my own peace of mind and not to argue or cos any problems.
