Question URGENT: celebrating eid after death

a friend just called and asked me a question.
his uncle passed away last month. he's asking: can his family celebrate their first eid after his death? he wants the answer according to Qur'an and Ahadith. usually in 'cultural Islam' people dont wish eid mubarak to such families and vice versa.

There is nothing wrong in celebrating Eid after the death of a relative. In Islam, the period of mourning has been limited to three days except for the widow who remains in iddah for 4 months and 10 days. Eid is a blessing from Allah and and to miss Eid due to a death that happened months ago is not recognised as an Islamic practice.
