ANSWERED: Question concerning hijab colour

I have a question that has been bothering me for some time and it concerns the hijab of the muslim sisters now my wife has a daughter
who follows the salafi da'wah now to there understanding the color of there
clothing that the sisters wear is supposed to be black now I have never read or seen any dalil that states that the sisters clothing is to be black.

now i read a hadith of our blessed Prophet[saw] that states the best color to wear for a Muslim is white can some1 please insaha Allah explain this to
me.

the color of clohes for females is supposed to be opaque, thats all i know

A related point...
when the wind blows, clothes tend to cling to the body and lighter colours show more of the bodys contours than darker colours [due to shadows being more contrasting within lighter shades].
Plus lighter colours tend to catch other peoples eyes more.

i think females can wear which ever colour of clothes they want but it musnt be too attractive and catching other peoples-males- attention.

i think sisters can wear any colour as long as the body doesnt show.and i agree with sister muslim-teenager that it shouldnt be too attractive as the reason that allah has said women should do purda is so that non mahrams are not attracted towards them.

As Salaamu Alaykum,

As pointed out by other members of the forum, the purpose of the Purdah is to save women from the evil gazes of men and to protect themselves from displaying their beauty.

Therefore, the Purdah is not only limited to the clothing that one wears, but also has a connection to the other factors that may attract attention.

Utmost care should be taken by the women in order to not attract attention from men. If wearing black or white colours attract attention then it would be best to leave them out (even though this is not usually the case).

As Brother Abd mentioned, the wearing of black clothing usually hides the body shape and therefore is usually preferred by women.
