    Question Quran translation and wudhu

    Salam,

Been reading Yusuf Ali's translation of the Quran and a brother (Hanafi) was telling me that it was neccessary to have wudhu when reading this book as it's only a translation. I thought it was neccessary to have wudhu as it's in both arabic and english.

Could some kind knowlegable person please advice on the ruling.

    Jazakallah Khair

If it contains multiple verses of the Quran in Arabic script, then it would be best to have wudhu when touching it. Normally, the order for such a book is based on whichever part (the Arabic or non) makes up the majority. So if more than half of it is verses in Arabic (or seems to be), then one should handle it in the state of wudhu.

    Allah knows best.

    Wassalam,
    Ziad
