Default Cheap and halal holiday suggestions?

We home educate and one of the perks has always been that you can take holidays at any time of the year avoiding heavy costs and busy times. However in reality it just hasn't happened as taking a holiday hasn't been a priority.

The only thing is that the children haven't been anywhere for the last seven years (they are aged between 2 and 10 - I have four) and we would like to take them somewhere. Ideally it would be for Umrah and Malaysia which we did seven years ago but with four kids it is just too costly. Even Umrah alone is too expensive for us right now.

I don't mind considering Turkey or Tunisia but I want to make sure it's going to be suitable for us as a family. We eat HMC meat/poultry here in the UK - so need to make sure the meat/poultry is really halal. To be honest if we are going to have to watch what we eat or where we visit then there's no point going there.

It's not that important for us to go abroad right now. A sandy beach would be ideal especially as my eldest daughter is 10 now and won't be able to enjoy the water and sand freely if we leave it any later than now to take her (unless it's women only). However, a few days off in the UK is fine too. Just somewhere to marvel at Allah's creation. And where hopefully there are some HMC outlets too!

I'm sorry if my post sounds too dunya orientated. But we are home educating our children to protect them. And a holiday is an opportunity to spend quality time together so that the children learn how to bond with us and enjoy time with us and each other.

    1. There are loads of places near Lake District (Irish Sea so go deeper) which are unexplored and beautiful but the water is just beginning to get cold, its beautiful! There are many resorts which will give you camper (or beds) very cheap at this time beacuse peak season is over.

    2. Wales (tons of unexplored areas) and the water won't be tool cold (at this time)
    3. A stoves costs £5.00 (ASDA) and 4 canisters should be around the same price and will last you a day.

    4. Cook & Enjoy!

P.S: Morrocco or Tunisia or Turkey (in most spots) isn't suitable for a practising family!

    Aapa,

I have backpacked (camped) near Irish Sea in Summer with some brothers and its beautiful but with wife and kids you can get a Cabin and it will be much cheaper.

A well known Maulana recently hired a Camper and took his wife and kids (Purdah, Cooking, Sleeping) everything was fine and with his wife (& 3 kids) i think it cost near a grand for 1 1/2 weeks and the family enjoyed it. Maulana was saying that his wife was happy as she didn't have to worry about Niqab and he was happy because it was cheaper!

Something like this is right now about £60-£70/day because it is off season

    It becomes this:

At this time as you know that beeches near London will have warmer waters. Camping in Europe is much cheaper but food is an issue but in UK wherever you are you are only a drive away from "HMC Meat" if you so wish.

OR take your car and look into this:

which will be around £50/day right now next to the beech (Lake District).

The cabin has heating, hot water, cooking, fridge and plenty of land for kids to play around and you can book 1 location for 2-3 days, then another, then another and move around if you wish!

P.S: All of this will be cheaper in Wales & Scotland!

Brother Colonel, that camper van looks awesome - didn't realise you could do that! And the lodge looks very pretty so will look at that.

Sis Quraatulain, see you in the sisters forum in a moment inshaallah.

These are very good suggestions and I think essential to help family life. In this day and age young girls and boys are surrounded by untold fitnah everywhere and we parents are so busy that sometimes we can't find the time to sit down and just chat with our children. It's usually 'hurry up' for school/madressah or 'get on with your work'. Spending regular time together in places like what Brother Colonel has mentioned will really help families to gel together, especially boys and fathers.

It would be great if we could have an Islamic camp where food would be halal and appropriate facilities for brothers and sisters could be provided. I doubt the demand would be high enough to get something like this going but inshaallah one day!

That lodge is ideal but it's really far up from London. Can you recommend anything closer at all?

    Aapa,

Vans are pretty cheap and give you FULL mobility with Purdah

Cabins near London (Bournemouth) will be slightly expensive but most importantly it may need give Islamic privacy to a practising family. Your next choice would be "Dorset"

But if you have car then I highly recommend that you "move away from London". Wales will be ideal as its not too far but at this time very isolated...
