    I've always thought that Salatul Tasbeeh was bid'ah, not sunnah. Someone clarify?

    Hadhrat Abdullah Ibn Abbas(ra) narrates that Rasulullah(saws) said to his uncle Hadhrat Abbaas bin Abdul Muttalib(ra);
    O'Abbaas! O'my uncle! Should I present to you a gift? Should I bestow something to you? Should I inform you of something greatly beneficial? Should I show you an act which, if you render it, Allah Ta'Ala will forgive you of all your sins..old and new,those committed publicly or privately? That act is to perform 4 rakats(salatul tasbeeh)...After Rasulullah(saws) showed the way to perform it he(saws) said: If possible, perform this salaat daily; if you are unable then perform it once a week! If you are unable, then perform it once a month; if you are unable, then perform it once a year and if you are unable to do that then perform it once in your whole lifetime.

    Yes, I've heard of this Hadeeth.
    I've also heard that it is weak.

    just because a hadith may have a weak status, doesnt mean that one cannot act on it simply due to the fact that it is supported by other ahadeeth

    I dont think its supported by other Hadeeth.

    Scholar of IslamQA have said that if indeed this salah exists, and if its really that virtuous, there would have been a lot more ahadeeth talking about it.
    Not only that, in the Hadith, the Prophet(saw) tells his uncle only about the salah. If the salah was really that virtuous, wouldn't the Prophet(saw) have let all his companions know about it?

    I think that might be the beard. According to scholars, all prophets had beards.

    Also, all prophets were shepherds(herded sheep) at one point in their life.

    Narrated by Abu Huraira

    The Prophet said, "Allah did not send any prophet but shepherded sheep." His companions asked him, "Did you do the same?" The Prophet replied, "Yes, I used to shepherd the sheep of the people of Mecca for some Qirats."
