Lightbulb For new reverts in Birmingham, West Midlands

Assalamu alaykum dear brothers and sisters

If you have recently accepted Islam or know someone who recently did, you might be interested in learning about some programs that we run for new muslims in Birmingham.

The Sisters' Cafe: this is run about once a week on Saturdays and it's a place to socialise with other muslims. Ladies only (children welcome). What we hhave to offer: emotional and practical support for new reverts, help with learning the deen (prayers, wudhu, fasting, reading Qur'an....) and one on one support and follow up to make sure new reverts always have someone to turn to.

New Muslims Outreach Program: a new program designed to reach out to the newest members of our community and offering tailored assistance to new reverts (brothers and sisters)

There are also a lot more available from the various mosques in the city. Simply contact your local mosque.

For more information or if you have any question at all you can email me: jameela_umyousef@rocketmail.com
I can help with finding your local mosque, prayer timetables and anything else really.

May Allah make you strong on the path of Islam. Insha'Allah see you soon...

    Wassalam

    Assalamu alaykum

for new revert sisters and newly practicing sisters, here is a circle for you: http://www.facebook.com/events/280798091974518/
It's every Sunday, it's for you and you will get to meet other reverts, share your stories and learn the basics of Islam insha'Allah. For more info, contact sister Nighat on the facebook page.

Still on facebook here is a page for Birmingham reverts: http://www.facebook.com/groups/202403613174671/
Sisters only page, you will need to ask to join to become a member. Once in you'll be able to share and ask questions about Islam insha'Allah. The sisters hosting the page are lovely masha'Allah and there are some interesting discussion going on.

PS: please note that i am not responsible for either, i'm simply sharing some potentially useful links.

    Wa alaykum salam

Yes sister we are still running the Sisters' Cafe on Saturday from 1pm to 3pm in the upstairs hall of the Daar (Muslim Students House Masjid 517 Moseley Rd - balsall heath - B12 9BX). This is a social gathering for ladies and children with the aim of meeting new sisters in Islam, sharing some quality time with friendly people over a nice cuppa and also getting support if needed from more experienced muslims (revert or not).

Then from 3pm to 4pm we have some Islamic Classes, we are currently looking to learn from the life of the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) by studying Seerah (biography of the Prophet).

You are welcome to attend both, or only one of the sessions if you prefer. It is all free and open to anyone (ladies only tho). If you wanna talk to me, please send me an email: jameela_umyousef@rocketmail.com we can then exchange number insha'Allah.

Insha'Allah we will get to meet soon, wassalam

Lightbulb Re: Sisters' Circles of knowledge

    Assalamu alaykum dear sisters,

for those of you looking to learn about the Deen, i would like to direct you to sister Nighat Jabeen who is running 2 sisters circles on Sundays:

** one for new reverts and newly practicing muslims which covers basic but essential aspects of islam (prayers, wudhu...)
** one for more established sisters where they cover more advanced discussion topics insha'Allah following the Qur'an and Sunnah

For more info get in touch with the sister on her facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/groups/UKIMSistersYouth/?ref=ts

And don't forget to come and have a friendly chat over a nice cuppa at the Sisters' Cafe on Saturday in the Daar.

    Wassalam
    Jameela
