    Question The Purification of Heart

According to Imam Ghazali when One wants to Purify their heart, or to handle their Nafs they need not to step in these specific areas,

Eating (Not but just enough to live upon), Sleeping (only some hours), people (complete avoidance) and other permissible desires .
That was a lengthy discussion showing the way how can someone attain the highest of ranks.

For, If someone has lead a life where being unconscious of Allah, can they Go for such Training Period of Nafs? Like for one or two months, If s/he avoid people and limit himself to Home, sleep and eat but required. and in all this session they do Dhikr, Quran, prayers and also Do watch their Past, remind their sins and asking forgiveness of Allah. so after that targeted Time s/he be able to purify the Nafs and also be used to with New life routine. and can start a new Life.

What Imam Ghazali rhmt.a has directed, they can be the ways for Saints to go on. But can Muslims who are not that pious, cant they try his mentioned approach, in low standard though?

But someone may say that, Quran and Hadith literature is replete with references exhorting us to adopt a balanced and simple approach to life. You should Go the middle road directly and No need of Such training course of Nafs.

Now Please brothers and sisters I want to know, which way to Move on? For sure we are to follow Sunnah, but Imam Ghazali was a Great scholar, why he rhmt showed These ways for purification? and a sinner is like a patient, don't he need some Cure? some remedies before walking on the road like healthy people on there?

    for any help.

Sister are you already doing the basics like praying on time, correctly, avoiding backbiting, etc? You don't really have to answer as my point is that sometimes we oversee that we need to get our basics rights first before we want to do more.

    A MUSLIM'S DAILY 'TO DO' LIST & CONFIDING WITH A SHAYKH-E-KAAMIL
    BY MUFTI EBRAHIM DESAI (DB)

One should always meditate and ponder that Allah Ta'ala is Samee', (One who listens to every single thing), Baseer (One Who sees every single thing even if anyone else is seeing), Aleem (One who Knows of every single thing) and in the like manner reflect on the different attributes of Allah Ta'ala. Together with that, remain engaged in the Dhikr of Allah Ta'ala at all times.

A person would be able to reach the greatest height if he confides and consults with a Shaykh-e-Kaamil (spiritual mentor) who is pious and God-Fearing. We, therefore, suggest that you should try and relate all your issues to a reliable mentor with whom you have strong confidence and compatibility with, who will be able to give you individual and personal attention. May Allah Ta'ala grant you and all of us the quality of Taqwa, Aameen.

In today's times when evil and corruption is so common and rife, every individual must take it upon himself/herself to protect and guard against the soul being corrupted. Hereunder, are some guidelines to guard one's soul and spirituality.

    a. Be punctual in performing the five daily Salats. A male must ensure he performs Salat with Jamaat in the Masjid.

    b. Recite some portion of the Qur'an daily. It is also important to read the translation and commentary of the Qur'an daily. We recommend the following English translations: Muhammad Pickthall (Translation); Muhsin Khan (Translation); Tafseer-e-Usmani (with commentary); Daryabadi (with commentary); Maariful Qurăn (with commentary). NB. Any translation of the Noble Qurăn must be accompanied with the Arabic text next to the translation.

    c. Recite the following three Tasbeehs any time in the morning or evening, 100 times Istighfaar, 100 times third Kalimah, 100 times Durood upon Rasulullah . The above three Tasbeehaat should be read in isolation and concentration.

    d. Always display good character even in front of one's enemies.

    e. Avoid intermingling with the opposite gender and lower one's gaze. Do not let the mind and heart be polluted with the form and shape of the opposite gender. That is death to spirituality.

    f. Stay in the company of the pious. Bad company is detrimental to one's Iman and character.

    g. Be conscious of life after death and accountability in the court of Allah Ta'ala. Keep in touch with reliable Ulama. Make their Ikraam (honour) and seek their esteemed guidance.

We hope if one follows the above points, he/she will be protected from the tricks of the Shaytaan

    True.. Okay.

Brother, I have asked about strengthening Iman, Indeed Islam comes first. after Its 5 Pillars, on land of Towheed one can be worried for the construction of building. which is Iman. I got to know that, Iman comes with deeds, and it increases or decreases with good deeds. So what I have asked in my original post, that was.. when a person returns back to Allah, makes Thobah, and want to live a life according to Quran and Sunnah, so he needs to do some Murakba like Imam Ghazali rhm.a has said or should take start with The new routine/life directly?

    brother.

I don't have the permission to learn from some Mentor. Here is no one.

And the rest, In shaa Allah the Tasbeeh I will add to my routine..

    You didn't get my question..

I want to ask that, as you know a diet scheme? to lose or gain some pounds? a person is supposed to be on some strict schedule. even don't eat Halal food and after when he attains the medical recommended weight, then he sticks to the Normal routine. SO is this case,

a person should Train his Nafs and his life routine, by avoiding things which are permissible ? and sticks to Ibadah, cut off from people (plz now see my initial post in this thread) and then comes to normal routine. Or should directly do the Good deeds without any strife? which way is better to move on?

    Salam.

"The degree of moderation and the method of mujaahadah should be acquired from a Muhaqqiq (a Shaikh qualified in Tasawwuf and who has been authorised by some spiritual master to spiritually train others)."

As stated above, you must consult with a shaykh of tasawwuf regarding what a'maal you will engage in. If there is no one in your locality, you could try via email, although not ideal will be better than nothing.
You can ask Mufti Ebrahin Desai (trusted and reputable shaykh) questions regarding tasawwuf such as the questions you pose above, here : http://daralmahmood.wufoo.com/forms/...question-form/

    Brother hansa,

Are you a graduate from Darul Uloom Zakariyya? (I know a brother "hansa" who studied there, hence I'm asking.)
