Default Who is Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi?

    Salam.

Who is Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi? Whenever I see his face, I feel calm. Whenever I listen to his lecture, I feel warm. And when I see his hadra video, I feel like crying. Why? Who is Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi? Is he a wali or something? Masha Allah.

I believe that he is a Maliki, not a Hanafi.

He shares some opinions similar to the Barelvis, yes, but he doesn't do takfeer of Deobandis (or even the Saudi Salafis) - not at least to my knowledge. This is similar to the case of the Habaib of Yemen, who share some opinions with the Barelvis but don't do takfeer of Deobandis (I don't know about Saudi Salafis but I'm pretty sure they don't do that either) - in fact, they even promote the Tablighi Jama'at.

Neither, I've seen him quote deobandis, but he goes to Brelwie masjids and he seems to have a lot of praise for ahmed raza khan.. I would agree with one of the posters that he is definitely brewlie leaning.

    Who is Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi?

Sultan Muhammad Bello said in his Miftah al-Basaa'ir: "Whoever desires to have his affairs established correctly can never have it done completely except after coming into relationship with a person who has lineage to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He should go and connect with a person in relationship with the Prophet, whoever he may be and regardless of the nature of the family tie to him, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Then and only then will he obtain real success hin his affairs."

He is Shaykh Abu’l-Huda Muhammad ibn as-Shareef as-Shaykh Ibrahim ibn Isma`il al-Yaqoubi ibn al-`Alama as-Shareef Shaykh Muhammad as-Sideeq ibn Shaykh Muhammad al-Hassan al-Yaqoubi al-Hassani al-Idrisi, may Allah ta`ala protect him from every affliction, hardship, tribulation and from the evils of every tyrant, by the rank of his grandfather and our master Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He is ash`ariyya by `aqeeda; practices the fiqh of Abu Hanifa, but is acutely acquainted with the fiqh of Imam Malik and Imam as-Shafi’, and passes fataawi on the basis of all three schools. He is a teaching Shaykh of the as-Shadhiliyya Tareeqa, but gives ijaaza in the Qaadiriyya, the Rufa`iyya, Dusuuqiyya, and other spiritual paths.

He is our shaykh and baraka, a learned jurist who is accomplished in many sciences. He is an upright servant, abstinent and is among the most excellent upright slaves of Allah and right-acting scholars. He is a man stamped with goodness, perfectly loyal and pure in nature. He is a learned jurist, a storehouse of knowledge and a patient teacher. He is an accomplished and intelligent scholar who has mastered many sciences. He is a traditionist, possesses a generous share in the sciences of the foundation of the law, rhetoric and eloquence. He possesses a gentle heart and exalted rank that has earned him the respect of the notable Muslim scholars and students throughout the world. He, may Allah protect his secret, is extremely incisive, unflinching and exacting in his judgments. He is staunch in his support for the truth and does not fear the criticism of critics. He has a very dynamic heart that makes him courageous in staggering affairs which most daring people would fail to venture. He is an inheritor of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in his pure shareefi lineage, his vast knowledge of the shari`a and in his inner spiritual states. Allah ta`ala has blessed him to join the two great seas of the sciences of the outer shari`a and the seas of the haqeeqah.

Shaykh Muhammad al-Ya`qubi, has narrated with his exalted chains of authorities the most renowned seminal texts in the Muslim world. He has revived the chains of authorities that had been obscured and brought them back to the surface benefiting students all over the world. Through his blessed hands the Saheeh of al-Bukhari, the Saheeh of Muslim, the remainder of the six canonical books of tradition, the Muwatta of Imam Malik, the ar-Risaala of Ibn Abi Zayd, the Mukhtasar of Khalil ibn Is’haq, the renown as-Shifa of Qadi `Iyad, the Dalaa’il ’l-Khayraat, the Ahzaab of Shaykh Abu’l-Hassan as-Shadhili and other decisive books of jurisprudence, tawheed, tafseer, and usul in the schools of Hanafiyya and Malikiya have been revived and spread throughout the regions of the world. He has left cultured and upright students, like young lion cubs, in Syria, the Hijaz, Jordan, Indonesia, Yemen, Malaysia, Sweden, Canada, Nigeria, South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, and the United States.

Among his virtues is his forbearance and patience never scorning to teach the beginner or the slow-witted. He is courageous and never fears taking the call of Allah ta`ala to places where others fear to enter. He was the first of the right-acting scholars to openly criticize the present Syrian government, without compromising his position with Allah and without collaborating with the west. This has costs him being marginalized by the established venial scholars of Syria and has earned him to same tribulations placed upon the right acting scholars of the past. We have witnessed him in the urban cities of the United States tirelessly transmitting knowledge to former gang members and ex-criminals, opening the door of repentance to Allah ta`ala for them. I myself, witnessed him transmit the entire as-Shimaa’il al-Muhammadiyya of Imam at-Tirmidhi, with his chain of authority back to its author, accompanied with lucid commentary in just four hours. This is just some of his karaamaat that many others and I have witnessed from his blessed hands.

The shaykh, the son of shaykhs, the unique one of his time,
Outstanding above champions, crowned with sciences, sublime
Muhammad al-Ya`qubi – the son of Ibrahim, one of the Abdal
The narrator of the prophetic traditions from the reliable Rijaal
A pure offspring of the Prophet, by whom Allah strengthens the Deen
Clarifying its obscurities clearing the Path of the matters of the Unseen.
He discharges the trust for the disciples of as-Shadhili the Saalik
He clears the Trodded Path for the followers of the amir Imam Malik
He gives coherent legal decisions based on the madh’hab of an-Nu’maan
Guiding the mureeds in all the spiritual Paths in the sciences of al-Ihsaan
He unravels the secrets of the as-Shimaa’il of the Gnostic at-Tirmidhi
And transmits the highest sanads of the Shaykhs Muslim and al-Bukhari
He has lion cubs that represent him, acting on his behalf, with his Idhn
Young lions resolute in their awraad, and meticulous in their decisions.
Calling people to Allah with baseera in the east and the westlands
In Sweden, in the urban ghettoes of the US, and in foggy England
In Scotland, in northern Nigeria, Pakistan and the radiant Haramaan
He has young knights transmitting the noble tradition of ar-Rahmaan
When collaborating factions abound with new forms of hypocrisy
He lifts from the face of upright religion the dark night of infidelity.
With the religion in a low place like a thing made ugly and worthless,
This youthful Hassani steps forward spreading wisdom that is priceless
He does not kiss up to the Bushs, nor the Blairs or any CIA spy ring
He disseminates the inheritance from his Beloved ancestor like a king.
He does not fear in manifesting the deen of Allah, the people of inkaar
Those who give direction to Allah, full of criticism, who hem and haw
He manifest the religion of Allah in the presence of His sworn enemies
He blots out their customs with the sword of good charm and integrity.
He returned me back, like an orphan is returned to its lost mother
He reconnected me to the Golden Chain of my two erudite pious fathers
I mean by that the saint, Ibn Muhammad, known as Saalih al-Fulaati
The descendant of Umar from the hills of Futa in Guinea Conakry
Who spread the sacred sciences in the lands of the Hind and the Hijaaz
And composed innumerous jewels of wisdom like his famous Iqaaz
Who took from the miraculous saint, long-lived, firm in the milla
I mean by that, the erudite jurists, the Fulani, Muhammad ibn Sinna
Who was from Bakhouna, west of Massina, who diffused many ijazaat
Renown for his prodigious memory, his fasting and brilliant karamaat
For returning me to my fathers I am grateful to this youthful Hassani,
This Idrisi, descendent of the best of Adnan, Muhammad ibn Abdullahi
The one of the bright face and brilliant red hair, the smiling waliyyi
The traveling scholar, the erudite jurist, Shaykh Muhammad al-Ya`qubi
May my Lord give him to drink and by that make me drink of his love
The milk of praise from the rain clouds of Contentment from Above.
By the rank of the Messenger of Allah, the full moon of the Hashim
Blessings and peace be upon him and upon the descendent of Ibrahim.

In short, if we were to relate to you what we had received of blessings and knowledge, both outward and inward from this Shaykh, it would feel what is between the heavens and the earth.

Isn't that problematic i mean the Bareilwis and their Imam are outside of Ahlul Sunnah wal Jamaah they are deviant.

Muhammad al-Ya'aqoubi is a Sufi from Ahlul-Sunnah, very good in Da'awah and a very good speaker, you and I may not agree with everything he says but overall he is respected and loved.
