Utrujj runs a series of Qur'an recitation classes (tajweed) and welcomes students of all levels to come and study. Tajweed is the science of
reciting the Qur’an as it was revealed, pronouncing every letter clearly from its articulation point with all due characteristics and perfecting the
Arabic pronunciation. The importance of this knowledge cannot be emphasised as any departure from the correct way of reciting the Qur’an
invalidates it as the Qur’an.

It is an obligation upon every Muslim to learn how to recite the Qur’an to an acceptable standard; furthermore the quality of our Qur’anic
recitation in our daily prayer has a direct impact upon the connection we feel with Allah, subhanahu wa ta’ala (swt), during the course of our
prayer.

We are about to start Term 2 of tajweed this month. There is a maximum of 7 places per course, and they are filling up fast.
