    Default Dua in salah

    Assalamu Alaikum

I am unsure about dua in prayer.

    1. For example in zuhr- 4rakhats sunnah, 4rakhats fard, 2rakhats sunnah, 2rakhats nafl..so do you raise you hands for dua after each group of rakhats OR do you just raise hands for dua right at the end?

    2. Can you make dua in any language? Is it valid to say "O Allah please forgive me", "O Allah please save me from hellfire", "O Allah keep my family in good health" etc..

Insha'allah someone can answer my questions. Jaza'khalla Khair

    1. Someone more learned than I has to answer this one. Although, there shouldn't be any harm in either way. When I said someone more learned has to answer, that was in respect to this action being mubah, sunnah, wajib, etc... i.e. the level of this action pertaining to shariah.
    2. Du'a (outside of salat) can be made in any language.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

    As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Du'a is permissible to make at any time (before, after Fardh Salāh, etc.). While there are substantiations for the different times of making Du'a, Shari'ah does not restrict the making of Du'a in those times not specifically substantiated in Shari'ah. Making Du'a is an act of great virtue and merit.

To regard the Du'a after Fardh Salāh or Sunnah Salāh as a compulsory or Sunnah act is Bid'ah (innovation in deen).
Regarding your second query, it is permissible to make Du'a in any language out of Salāh.
