Please go easy on him and people like him. Our beloved Prophet(PBUH) was sent to save people from hell and thus we are supposed to do our best to the same goal. You must have noticed that Professor Hoodbhuy used the sentence that we are Muslims because we were born so - that is it. For an optimistic person this is a lot.
Personally I like Hamza's mission which is to defend Islam but his methodology is alien - it is too western for my own taste. I am not saying it to start a diversion but just to express my feelings. Then there is the style adopted by Professor Hoodbhuy - I feel comfortable with that because I have experienced that all these years. I just wish he was on the side of Islam. And to focus on the substance we must completely ignore the last minute flares.

During the lecture Professor Hoodbhoy makes a reference to some recent results from CERN. The results said that the particles known as neutrinos might travel faster then speed of light in vacuum. Now in the long history of physics no such results have ever been seen. In fact the long standing wisdom has been that nothings moves faster than light in vacuum.

Yours truly had made the following remarks when those results were declared:

No material particle can travel faster than the speed of light in vacuum.
Including neutrinos.
BBC says that CERN scientists are baffled by some results.
Has somebody been shooting his mouth out of turn. We know some people do that.

Also yours truly was puzzled as to how Professor Hooddbhoy believed those results. No conservative scientist will do that.

And in deed finally those results were disproved. A few times already.

The latest news is that the head of the group that put its foot in its mouth has resigned.

Clearly Professor Hoodbhoy did not prove to be a very perceptive physicist in this case - he was inclined to believe those people who ended up with a pie on their face.

it is baffling though. i as a physics layman may feel inclined to believe controversial theories that disprove age old rules of physics.but why would he believe it?

In an interview of Professor Noam Chomsky by Professor Hoodbhoy the following comments is made by the former:

Q (PH): Why do they hate us so much?
A(NC) : They are antagonistic to the United States because it’s opposed to democracy, it supports authoritarian and repressive regimes, it blocks democratic tendencies, it prevent economic development by supporting suppressive regimes.

Of course the question is American and rhetoric one. But the answer too is cut off from reality. The real answer goes beyond those manifestations that are recognized by these worthy intellectuals. The real answer lies in conflicting values. American values are not the same as Islamic values and America tries to impose its values on others.

And unfortunately even this rhetoric question does not reach the real crux of the matter. It presumes that Muslims hate America. Have you stopped beating your wife is a standard loaded (American ?) question. They recognize this one. Why they hate us is another loaded question. Do they recognize this fact? Unlikely. They do make some facile attempts at dialogue but it is inevitable loaded with other contingencies - talk softly and carry a big stick. Another way of saying the same thing is, " We are bombing them to bring them to the negotiation table."

Of course Professor Hoodbhoy is one on many amongst us who buy this American philosophy to a very large extent. And this is true in spite of the fact that he and his interviewee feel that they are the rebels of American system. This might be true to some extent but this itself does not make them friendly to Islam and Muslims. It needs little bit more journey.

Some one has uploaded a video on YT in which a Shaikh is crying at some thing - the speech is in Arabic.
The subtitles say that he is crying because Hamza Andreas Tzortzis went to debate with Professor Hoodbhoy.
The speech does not match with the subtitles. Cheap below the belt trick. Sign of the atheists camp having nothing reasonable to say.

One thing must be kept in mind that Professor Pervez Hoodbhuy is no dummy. This has to be mentioned for in modern socialite circles you do have too many creatures around who are famous for being famous. It is no profit enterprise denying intellectual tradition in leftist movement - their lack of faith is what did them in. Here is a partial list of academic publication by him. The publications mentioned in the list are top ones in a field that is notorious for its demanding nature. Here is a more complete list, but only more complete, not complete. He has written two papers that have been cited more than hundred times. This is not very close to the top guys in his field but this certainly makes him thoroughly serious members of his chosen community of professional expertize.
