Default Was Ibn Taymiyyah From Ahl al-Sunna Wa Al-Jama'a? - Online book

I came across the following online book recently. Unfortunately the book does not have any information on the author or translator. If anyone knows these shuyukh please share it here.

Was Ibn Taymiyyah from the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah? Size: 7.1 MB

By Maulana Muhammad Abu Bakr Ghazipuri al-Ansari

Translation by Mufti Afzal Husain Elias

This work can be divided into three parts. The first linking the statements of Ibn Taymiyyah to the authentic Sufis, the second quoting some of the ludicrous beliefs of the great icon of the Salafis and the third, as the appendix explains, that Ibn Taymiyyah was not a true 'Alim by academic standards.

Few years ago even reliable scholars thought that no one was better than al-Albani but when his knowledge was unveiled he became history. Ibn Taymiyyah's path to oblivion is following close by.

So Imam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) was not a true 'Alim? Really?

Seems like only wannabe-"Sufi" Mubtadi'ah and Zanadiq can be 'Ulama`...

I Read the book a while ago and some of the claims therein are just way too overboard. Like not being a true Alim, etc. Even though Ulamaa have mentioned he held opinions that differed from the rest of the Ulamaa in Usool and Furu', nonetheless his scholarship is recognized.

imho a book of warning should be made about those who take Ibn Taymiyyah's (as well as other Ulamaa's) shaadh opinions and make like a madhhab outta it, then obligate the rest of the Ummah to follow. Read up on what the Ulamaa have said about Tatabbu'ur Rukhaas.

It's hard to get a balanced approach on him generally. One group almost rejects everything about him, including the good he has done for deen. Then the other group almost accepts everything about him, including the mistakes he made in deen.

I've seen some Ulamaa take the balanced approach of taking the good, leaving the bad, and covering up his mistakes unless issues need to be clarified because of some sort of fitnah.

Is there a biography on-line? I found it odd that the translator or publisher did not give any info in the book itself.

You can find a few details here.

As written in the Preface of the book, the book is a reply to some Salafi/Ahle Hadith book that was written and titled "Are the 'Ulama of Deoband from the Ahl al-Sunna Wa Al-Jama'a?"

Ive not yet come across any Akabir of Ulema e Deoband who spoke ill about Shaikh ul Islam Hazrat Ibn Taymiyyah .( due respect to Maulana Ghazipuri sahab ) ive read the above mentioned book and still chose to stick with the likes of Mufakkir e Islam Hazrat Maulana Syed Abul Hassan Ali Nadwi sahab who has given him a seperate chapter in his book Tareekh Dawat o Azeemat (saviours of Islamic Spirit) where he speaks voluminously of his services to deen.

Yes we also know the people who often cites his name to further and distort his image to prove their claims.

off the topic .. im looking for the book. Al Sarim Al Maslool by Shaikh ul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah .. any translation availabe in english..?

    wa assalam..

I do believe that the intention of the author, Shaykh Ghazipuri , was simply to open the eyes of the Salafi/Ahle Hadith as can be gauged from the preface of the book. The 'Ulama Deoband do hold Shaykh al-Islam in high regard however they do except that he has erred in many of his opinions. The book was written to highlight to the Salafi/Ahle Hadith about some of the errors of Shaykh al-Islam in a similar way that they had written against 'Ulama Deoband. And this is my humble opinion.
