The Fighting Taliban
I'm not sure if any of you remember the Last Poets, led by Imam Sulayman al-Hadi, who was also one of the founding members of the Dar'l-Islam movement in the US. Well, they produced a moving poem back in the day called 'Ho Chi Minh' which described the defeat of the US by the Viet Cong liberating forces. I composed the following poem called the 'Fighting Taliban', based upon their poem and using the same beat. Like their poem, this one describes the victory which the Taliban freedom fighters are enjoying over the US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.

THE FIGHTING TALIBAN
Oh I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
Oh I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
He stood & looked upon the earth
with drones & weapons in his hand
His satellites set their sights
upon an ancient rich Muslim land
Worshipping God, the One Alone
and their flocks and herds to tend
Yet ready at a moments call
their Muslim homeland to defend
He walked into their Muslim land
Surreptitiously as an uninvited guest
He said: "I'm here to rid you of
your militants and terrorist pests!"
He said: "I'll build an army base
Right here on your masaajid floors!
And I'll protect you from your sons
and from the Pakis and Chinese next door!"
The Taliban answered with a snap:
"We need no help from the likes of you!
Why, you are the same kaafirs
that Allah ta`ala helped us defeat in 1842!
Our sons are in the surrounding mountains
their sacred Muslim homeland to regain
So why don’t you just go back home
and save yourself some grievance and pain"
Oh I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
Oh I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
He said: "Hajji! Are you insane?!
Do you know who the hell I am?!
Why, I'm the policeman of the world
And everybody calls me: Uncle Sam!"
The Taliban simply took their weapons
and with a real righteous defiant stance
They said: "Yes, we know you & what you'll do
but you see, we don’t give a damn!"
He said: "Where did these ignorant Taliban
get the gall and unmitigated audacity
To take small weapons in their hands
and defiantly speak like that to me?!
I'll send my smart helicopters
mercenaries and unmanned drones out
On search and destroy missions
to hunt these backward peasants down
I'll send my computer integrated jets and tanks
to burn his masaajid and villages to the grown!"
The Taliban looked at this arrogant fool
and with dignity did not even bat and eye
They said: "You see before we would submit
we all would rather turn to Allah, fight and die
But we feel it only right and fair
that we should warn you crusaders for yo sake
That this here war will be the biggest blunder
that you christians, athiests & zionist will ever make!"
Oh I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
Oh I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
The big bully, now blushing red
let out a whooping marine battle cry!
The Taliban, then just seemed to fade away
into the surrounding mountains and countryside.
He smiled and said with over confidence:
"I've got those mujahideen on the run!"
But then booby traps, AKs, bismillahs & SVDs
along with stingers & IEDs set fire to his buns!
The Taliban fought so hard and well
that so the untold story goes
They trapped themselves a 'paper tiger'
and filled his western hide with holes!
And as the pain, & the economic strain intensified
he cried out to the world loud and clear:
"Heah, if I can just get untangled yall
I'm gettin my heroine addicted butt up out of here!
Oh I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
I gotta go!
Oh I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
Gimme my drugs...my burgers...my money...
but I'm leaving my guns...I gotta split...I gotta leave
Where's my boat?! Where's my plane?! ...I gotta split!...I gotta leave
You see...I just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban
NoI just could not stand
Against the fighting Taliban"

Re: The Fighting Taliban
Actually the credit goes to Imam Sulayman al-Hadi, may the mercy of Allah be with him, who composed the poem Ho Chi Minh, upon which I based this poem. His poem can be found on the Last Poet's album called 'Delights of the Garden'. I simply saw the parallels between what happened in Vietnam and what is going on in Afghanistan. The poem 'Ho Chi Minh' captured in a way few people have of the reality of the humiliation which the US suffered with their defeat and which they have been trying their best to undo, to no avail.
