When I was becoming hafiz, whilst also attending school, my respected teacher recommended that I learnt my sabak (lesson, approximately 13 lines per day) early in the morning. This is recommended because the mind is fresh when compared to other periods of the day. However sometimes when I was feeling lazy, I would pray after school for 45 minutes before attending madressah, from 5.00 - 7.30 p.m. Also if i had time after madressah I would learn my sabak before going to bed, which would save me from having to get up in the morning or pray after school. By doing this I also felt I retained the sabak much better in my memory.

What UmHasans post describes is certainly not excessive in my opinion. It's probably the least a person needs to do to complete hifz within 3-5 years. Without a doubt you are going to have to make some sacrifices, but you will get your rewards, inshAllah, in the end.

May Allah make it easy for you. Ameen.

Just to clarify, it will obviously be difficult to learn thirteen lines or more per day at the beginning. Slowly work your way up from about five lines.

Firstly Salamualaikum to all my Muslim brothers and sisters. I really would like to know how to start hifz and balance it between school(not really balance, practically more attention to hifz). I am in the middle of year 10 at the moment with my GCSE's next month however I really want to do hifz as it would be extremely beneficial. Jazakallah.
