    salaam brother-in-Islam,

can you please share your thoughts on Tahajjud/Qiyam Al-Layl?
What inspires you to pray Tahajjud every night (when you can)?

JazakAllahu khair if you can please advise.

2.Whilst walking read your memorized ayaats as much as you can throughout the day. The more you do this the more it will enforce you inside your head.
3.I understand that you may not be able to keep a quran with you at all times but what you can do is take a photo with your phone of the page and when you need to take a quick look to remember some ayaats then you can do so.
4.Read the memorized ayaats in your salaah.
5.Resolve your whole day around the quraan.
6.Try to read at least 3 juz from memory everyday. (you can do this one once youve learned more juz)
7.when youve learned something and need to find ur mistakes close the mushaf and record yourself on ur fone. Then listen to yourself whilst looking inside the mushaf and circle your mistakes.

Needless to say but ask Allah (swt) for help and guidance.
JazakAllahu Khair for sharing your tips, brother/sister-in-Islam

With the following a not-so-religious Muslim may find it too difficult (or feel uninspired) to memorize the whole Qur'an:

~ watching cable TV and reality TV shows
~ doing nothing useful on social networking sites
~ playing online and offline games
~ chit-chatting with friends who love chatting about celebs and other things that don't really matter
~ lying on one's bed and listening to music the whole day

advice to all and myself: in order to be able to seriously memorize the whole Qur'an, the above time-wasters should be avoided as much as possible.

May Allah forgive us all, have mercy on us and guide us to what pleases Him and what will lead to Heaven/Jannah. Ameen.

    Allah knows best.

Qiyamul Layl to me is the only prayer where i have full khosho. The reason i pray it is because the isolation one has during the second quarter of the night truly allows you to ponder over the ayats flowing out of your tongue. “Night prayer is superior to day prayer because:
It is more concealed and closer to sincerity. The righteous early Muslims (salaf) used to strive hard to hide their secrets [f: i.e. the actions between them and Allah].

Hasan [al-Basri] said, ‘It used to be that a person would have guests staying over and he would pray at night without his guests knowing…’

And because night prayer is harder on the lower self, because night is a time of rest from the tire of day, so leaving sleep despite the lower self being desirous of it is a tremendous struggle (mujahada). Some have said, ‘The best of works are those the lower self is forced to perform.’

And because recitation in night prayer is closer to contemplation, because things that busy the heart are mostly absent at night, so the heart is attention and is with the tongue in understanding, as Allah Most High said, ‘o! The night vigil is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. [Lo! You have by day a chain of business. So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself with a complete devotion.]’ (Qur’an, 73: 6-7) It is because of this that we have been commanded to recite the Qur’an in night prayer in a steady recital (tartil).

And it is because of this that night prayer is a shield from sin…

And because night vigil time is the best of times for voluntary worship and prayer, and the closest a servant is to his Lord.

And because it is a time when the doors of the sky are opened, supplications answered, and the needs of those who ask fulfilled.

Allah has praised those who wake up at night for His remembrance, supplication, and to seek forgiveness and entreat Him, saying, ‘They forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of what We have bestowed on them. No soul knows what is kept hid from them of joy, as a reward for what they used to do.’ [Qur’an, 32: 16-17]

And He said, ‘Those who pray for pardon in the watches of the night.’ [Qur’an, 3: 17]

And, ‘[The (faithful) servants of the Merciful are they who walk upon the earth modestly, and when the foolish one address them answer: Peace;] And who spend the night before their Lord, prostrate and standing…’ [Qur’an, 25: 63-64]

Allah most negated similitude between those who pray at night and those who do not: ‘Is the one who worships devoutly in the watches of the night, prostrate and standing, fearful of the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, (to be accounted equal with a disbeliever)? Say: are those who know equal with those who know know? But only people of understanding will pay heed.’ [Qur’an, 39: 9]” [Saffarini, Ghidha al-Albab Sharh Mandhumat al-Adaab. It was also narrated that the one who reads 100-1,000 ayats will be awarded by Allah.

for your advice, you gave a good schedule, but I think she will have a hard work to recite three juz per day ,but. will give her motivation, I think she can be consistent on this schedule as I know she was doing 6-5 hours work daily on memorize ..
    .
if you want to memorize online on skype. i know a very qualified female teacher. and she will only have to do revision at home for 1-2 hours thats all. the rest the teacher will take care of. and the teacher will only have to teach her for 1-2 hours. the teacher has kids who come to her madrasa from school they memorize after school. she helps them with next day sabaq. and she has techniques and if its not enough she has 15+ years of experience. her standard is very high once you have completed a juz you are not allowed to move on until you recite thats para with no mistake and no stopping. so if you are interested please let me know. the prices are affordable and timing are flexible. if you are interested let me know and you will be able to talk to her directly about details.
    jazakAllah
