وَلَا تَقۡرَبُواْ ٱلزِّنَىٰٓ*ۖ إِنَّهُ ۥ كَانَ فَـٰحِشَةً۬ وَسَآءَ سَبِيلاً۬
Do not even go close to fornication. It is indeed a shameful act, and an evil way to follow. (Surah Al Israa:32; Mufti Taqi Usmani)
وَلَا تَقۡرَبُواْ ٱلۡفَوَٲحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنۡهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ*ۖ
and do not go near shameful acts, whether they are open or secret; [Surah Al Inaam:151; Mufti Taqi Usmani]

Jazak'Allah Khayr! So, that means this particular hadith can't be considered for a Shara'i ruling.Originally Posted by Abu_Tamim
Never seen, bro. Not even in UP, where women take that Afghanistan style Burqa. But yes, I remember, their Burqa sort of have net covering both the eyes.Originally Posted by Abu_Tamim

^ Well things we do not experience seem strange to us. However that is how the sayings of the sahaba described the believing women after the ayaah 33 of al Ahzab came down.
I suppose this also shows how far we are from the ideal men and women.

Maybe they didn't have glares back then, hence Hafiz Ibn Kathir had to come up with the idea of covering only one eye in his Tafseer. If glares were invented in those days, his (ra) tafseer would have been different, I guess. He would surely have made mention of covering both the eyes with shades. Right? What do you say?Originally Posted by sudoku

^ I am not sure. To be honest sunglasses (that's what you mean by glares right) can be quite aluring as well.
The fact is that they concealed themselves and only left open what was necessary for them to be able to navigate themselves when outside.

Home-made fatwas every where....!
Suddenly people start re-interpreting Islam in a different way according to their own nafs. Just because current Muslims are following their own will doesn't mean it is the right way. Follow the opinion of the Madhabs in this matter, ignore the rest. And ppl should stop 'trying' to interpret things in their own way.

It can't be more alluring than an actual eye. Some women (and men too) are blessed with beautiful eyes. And as they say, aankhey bhi dil ki zabaan hoti hain (translation: Eyes are sometimes voice of the heart).Originally Posted by sudoku
So, had there been glares back then, Ibn Kathir (ra) might have overruled his opinion of leaving one eye open as he (ra) would have considered it better to not let them (eyes) speak, even one eye for that matter?
Maybe we should ask contemporary Ulema which one would they deem better - Covering one eye & leaving the other one uncovered or Covering both the eyes using sunglasses?
