The current system is so badly rigged that there is not much hope for getting anything positive out of it. The capitalist system is designed to syphon the money from the rest of the society to the top 1%. A common man has no say in this system, its designed and operated by a few who create wealth from thin air, and they wield so much power that they can set the market price for almost everything. So if someone decides to have an alternate system (provided you can find those individual who can interpret Sharia and design such a system), there is not much hope for its survival.
However, the only way I can see Muslims make real difference is by paying our Zakat completely, and on time to those who deserve. This probably might bring some equality in the society and that might be a disruptive force against such system, as the current system (yes, even the micro finance gimmick) wants everyone to be dependent on it. Muslims should try to excercise a lot of self restraint and must learn to live within their means (means no Israf and showoff).
