I thought I'd just make a naseeha, which is don't trust your own strength and think that you will be able to do so and so with pure intention if you can do it otherwise. Maybe all of them have good niya but a thumb of rule which I was taught is if you can avoid doing it in public, do so, because the riya is like a black ant on a black rock in the darkness. Prevention is better than cure...

sister. Upon re-reading the posts, I noticed the title itself is a reminder for us all but the initial posts themselves seem to be more about the value of asking for forgiveness from Allah (SWT) and listing various dua'as for forgiveness.
